I'm happy to have saved this cat, it was starving and people have been killing cats around here with poisin, and many are run over by cars.

I tryed finding it another owner with no luck. So we are keeping it.

I'm not too happy on the way some things are done in this house, all our recent dogs never had any shots and have never seen a vet... and this cat I doubt will ever see a vet too, we love them, but my family doesn't want to "waste" money on them.
And it's not worth trying to convince them, I don't have money to do it, and don't get pocket money.

I recently started working for Yves Rocher products and hope to save up to be able to give the cat all it's shots and "fix it". But I don't know many people that wan't the products...

I was wondering if there is anywhere I could get donations from or something so that I could raise the money to care for her properly as she deserves.

I know that if I don't "get her fixed" and she has kittens my granny will kill them, the last puppies we had she wantted to have them drowened, we managed to avoid it, but don't know if we will if the cat has kittens.

I try my best with my pets, my dog got a deep cut on his foot(I think someone did it, these people can be so mean) and I did all I could for him with the help of my mother, we disenfected it, but the material elastic bandage wrapped around his leg, added a sock, and then that sort of plastic used to cover food, put some celotape at the pottom to make it somewhat riggid so it won't just tare and get water and infect. It's winter so a lot of mud puddles...

I wantted to find a site or something to help get the money for the kitten, and maybe even my dogs, as I know it can be dangerous that non of the two ever had thei shots, especially the bigger one.

I live on a small Island belonging to Portugal, animals are just recently getting some more protection, consideration... but mostly seen as objects.

Once two teenage boys threw a dog out a window of a 8 storie apartment, they statted "jus't to see what would happen", the poor dog hit a car making a huge dent in the car roof, the poor animal was still alive and in agonising pain when the fire fighters retreived it and taken to the vet had to be putt down, what most outrageous me is it was a friendly dog, that trustly went to them. I wish I could create an animal sanctuary, but goverment isn't exactly someone to ask for help....

I can't create a sanctuary
but I'd at least like to help the pets I have.

Sorry for the long message, I sort of write as it comes in my head.

Best Wishes

Sheara

Sheara, welcome to the Cat Site. Some others of us live in countries where the lives of dogs and cats are not respected, and it is very difficult. All my cats were rescued off the streets, but fortunately I can afford to feed and look after them. If your family will not help, and there are no animal rescue organisations (but htere may be as Portugal is a member of the EU, unlike Bosnia), then you may have to think about ways to earn money in your spare time. Have you got a vet near you? WHy don't you pay them a visit to explain what you are trying to do and find out what everything will cost - shots, deworming and neutering for a start. Then you know what you are aiming for. Do people do things like sponsored swims where you live? Or maybe even the vet will let you help with jobs like cleaning? Offer to walk people's dogs if there are any. I wish you the best of luck.-

Also, part of taking on the responsibility of pets is providing for their care and feeding. It really isn't anyone else's job to care for and feed animals you have brought into your house. According to your profile, you are over the age of 18. Can you not get a job yourself to help?

It sounds like you are doing everything you can in a tough situation. We understand that good jobs are not always easy to find, especially in some parts of the world. Don't give up hope - keep asking everyone, everywhere. With your animals it must be breaking your heart
- try to take in only what you can handle. Yes, I know that is easier said than done.

I wish you all the best and I hope one day your sanctuary dream comes true.

I think the idea of calling the vets office to see if you could work there to pay for your cats care is a great idea. Or they may know of someone else who is trying to run a shelter in your area who will trade vet care for your hard work.

Best of luck with your situation, sounds like you are in an awful situation!

I've got a magazine selling sort of job, if I manage to sell their products here I get a percentage, not so easy though, jobs are a bit hard here to get.
I do feed it, now and then I get wiskas for kittens, friskies for kittens and some other brands. And give it lots of love.
But if I had to take in account that I woulden't be able to get its vaccinations, another owner...
Would you find it best to just let it starve, be killed...?
I'm at least trying my best to care for it...
I didn't say it was someone elses job to care for it! Or I woulden't even bother trying to get help to care for it... or cover up for it as I did today when it killed my grand-mothers bird...

It sounds like a very tough situation. Try and stay positive.
Scout around and check what oppotunities might be open for you. Read everything you can to educate yourself about your pets health and plan ahead.

I am so very sorry to hear of your situation with your cat.

The stark reality is that you are pretty much on your own.

You might want to contact Best Friends. They helped me find a place to spay/neuter all my strays and ferals for free. They are hard to get a hold of since they are so very busy. Everyone involved in rescue have the same problem. Too many cats and not enough resources.

I wish I could help but i am in the same situation.

All I can offer is my prayers. And don't give up.

God Bless you for helping.
