Poor Ryan -

maybe you should correspond with Kim's (Kluchetta) son who just broke his leg on a ski slope here. You can compare breaks.

Heal quickly and cuddle with Chasey because we all know that cuddling with kitties helps speed your healing. (And keep your warm if you're not wearing any pants)

Movin' on up!
Too bad, about the crutches. I have carpal tunnel syndrome and crutches cause too much pain in my wrists.

Watch that ankle, though. I've broken my left one twice and torn the ligaments in it once.

*insert the sound of a sharp intake of breath through clenched teeth* The thought of broken bones always gives me the shivers, having broken several of my own as a child, and spending quite a bit of time in my formative years encased in plaster. I'm so sorry about your accident! I hope you feel better soon!

Too bad we can't all sign your cast. Can you make a web page with an online cast that we can all sign?

I vote on Monday, after he gets his cast on, he posts a picture of it in a new thread, and then we all "sign" the thread....and it'll be like we're all signing the cast!

Wow, I saw this thread and got pretty excited (I know, bad nun).

Anyway, hope you feel better soon, Ryan, and are getting lots of love and purrs from little Chasey. Take care!

Well send someone to the local men's big and tall shop and get some long shorts that would fit over the splint. I had foot surgery in December 1999-not a good month to be on crutches. I used electrical tape and taped some carpet padding onto the hand grips of the crutches. Plus re-acquainted myself with crawling around on hands and knees!!
So I guess you will have to use the internet to finish Christmas shopping for all of us!!!
I hope your ankle heals well.

Purring supposedly helps broken bones to knit more quickly.

Well, anyone who knows me here knows that I love to quote&reply when everyone is so thoughtful and funny, but I haven't made the time this evening to do so. Thanks everyone! You're all so good to me.
Anyway, The clinic called this morning and told me I could come in at 8:00 Tuesday to get my actual cast and replace the splint and not the same day as the call, so... by some of the replies here, I'll tell you what... I'll make a quick thread where you can vote for the color of the cast (assuming they give me a choice) and your choice will be to stick it to me and pick a color I would never wear, (such as pink or purple
) or just pick another color. I'll also take pics of the cast and maybe set something up so people can sign it for fun. I'll think of something.
I'm off to make the thread.

It's probably too late, but I added a poll to this thread.

Oh dear...soon as I saw the title of this thread I thought, `Ok, I MUST see what he is talking about!'

You poor thing, you! My brother did that to his ankle - it was years ago and he was playing soccer. He went for the ball same time as another guy - Matt got the ball, and the other guy got him. Broke his ankle in three places. He walked around on it for the rest of the day until he could walk no longer, and it turned out that he had fractured his tibia AND fibula, one of them in two places. Then they set his ankle crookedly, which caused a fluid build-up around the breaks, which then got infected. He ended up in a wheelchair with his leg elevated for a month, and was hospitalised for two weeks. Nasty, nasty, nasty.

Of course, one is hoping that this doesn't happen to you!!!

GOOD LUCK GET WELL SOON!!

PS - the constant changing of where you live is a great source of delight to me.... www .inasplint.owwie ...

Born from ideas in this thread, http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70382 here's a quick thread to vote for what color my cast will be. For all the ribbing and teasing I do in the lounge, it's your chance to stick to me and make me choose a color I wouldn't choose myself. As a law, I do not wear Stephanie's favorite color (dawnofsierra) or another color that starts with the letter "P". There's your hint right there. No matter how equal rights I have become over the years, I still adhere to this belief, traditional or not.
You can bet I'm already thinking of lies and excuses for any embarrassing cast colors. As suggested in the above thread, I will take a photo of the cast. Vote away!
