We met Cracker Jack several months ago. He was a wonderful cat, and my older sister is looking into getting one(her first kitty
). We cannot remember what his breed is. Just so you know, I know nothing about well bred cats(we have your basic everyday mutt cat-sorry for the use of such a harsh term). I didn't even know that Himilayans & Persians were the same breed!
Here is his picture.

Whatever breed he is, he had a wonderful personality. That is what my sister is looking for in a cat. She wants a good pet with a good personality. She lives alone & would like a nice cat to love. AWWW...I made her a cat person! She actually wanted Lily, but we couldn't seperate her & Twitch. Anyways, I got off track! Any suggestions(although you probably know what kind of cat it is for sure) will be appreciated!

Would you reccomend one for a first time cat owner? Do you know of any breeders in southern MN?

What a beautiful kitty!! I would say he's a Himalayan. His nose is a little bit pointy but other than that he looks like one. He has big feet too which most Himalayans do. I know mine does.

Could be himilayan, ragdoll or some birman in the background. How does the fur feel and does it mat or tangle easily?

The ragdoll and birman would have a silkier coat with no matting. A persian/himilayan would more easily mat or tangle. Ragdolls and birmans also carry the bicolor white on the feet and/or face. The face looks a bit like birman or ragdoll rather then himilayan (longer nose).

Hi new here
and was just browsing when I came across this post. My first time to lurk around.
If the cats chin is white it would be more likely a Ragdoll. If the chin has the same blue coloring as the rest, more likely Birman. Ragdoll eyes are not quite as round as the Birman as well. None the less, a beautiful kitty
, and sounds like he is very sweet.

Thanks everyone! His fur was very silky. He had the most beautiful blue eyes(just don't let Twitch know I said that!
). I was looking at pictures of Birmans, & I think you were right! Now that my sister knows what breed she is looking for, she can start her search! Thanks, again!

After looking more at the picture and the fact you said the fur was silky, I will agree the cat is a birman (or birman look alike if there are no papers). Who has the cat?

If it is a birman - its pet quality as the white on the feet are not marked correctly - needs to be more. And I'm willing to bet the cat doesn't have the proper "lacings" up the back of the hind feet. Its an very nice cat tho.

He is owned by my mom's aunt & uncle(I think). They don't have any children, so Cracker Jack is their son. He is neutered. They don't have plans to breed him(Obviously--refer to previous sentence
). I think that they had a Birman years ago, & after she died they got a Siamese. They preferred the Birman to the Siamese, so they picked out a kitten they liked. I don't think he even has any papers(but then again, I had no idea what kind of cat he was
). I can't really tell you much about him. That's about all I know. I asked my mom, but she doesn't really know either.

Can you post a picture of what a show quality(is that what I want to call it?) Birman looks like?

What a beauty! He looks a lot like my Billy, but darker.
I'll try and get some pictures of him up later, he's show quality. Unfortunately, Cracker Jack wouldn't be, I think, because his feet are a little bit messy on their color. The hardest trait in show quality cats are perfect "gloves and laces" meaning their entire feet are white, and have nice straight lines of color along the tops, and their hind feet have a sort of V shape to the coloring on the back of the foot.

Though I'm a little biased, Birmans are wonderful cats. They're sweet and like to cuddle, but spend time on their own too if I'm busy. You can check out http://www.birmanbreeder.com/ to find more about the breed and find a breeder in your area. Good luck!
