yes.... you read that right

for those of you that dont know, Cedar is my scared kitty (see this link http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56213 ) but last night my little boy completely surprised me.

Usually when we have guests over he spends the night under the bed in fear. Often I close the door to our room so he doesnt feel threatened in any way and I go in their often to talk to him during the night.
He never ever comes out.... until last night!!

We were sitting down having dinner and boldly without fear Cedar walks right past us - didnt hesitiate just wandered by. I almost fell of my chair. He didnt stay long this first time, but he continued to do it - he would walk up to us sit down, look at us, have a few kibbles of food, have a drink, walk away...

At one point I gave my friend some treat kibbles and he offered them to Cedar - I was sure he wouldnt have anything to do with it - but no not my brave boy - he promptly walked up to him and ate the kibbles OUT OF HIS HAND... ohmy!! And it gets better....

not long after this he rolled over and offered him tummy to my friend for a belly rub... this is simply incredible - I couldnt speak.

needless to say Cedy got lots and lots of hugs and kisses from me last night.

Keep being brave Cedy boy, just small little steps and you may just find that the world really isnt a bad place

WOW! Cheers to the little guy! I have a fearful kitty too (she almost never comes out from under the bed) so I can imagine your joy at Cedar's voluntary emergence into the world. You guys must provide a very loving atmosphere for him to feel so encouraged. His bravery knows no bounds & that is wonderful & amazing. Hope it continues!

Good for Cedar! I'll bet there was something about your friend's voice, gestures, or smell that was reassuring. Now that the ice has been broken, maybe he'll venture out more when you have company.
Jamie is shy with non-family members, too. He runs upstairs when the doorbell rings, or gets up on his window perch behind the sheer curtains, and only comes to greet people he really knows. I've been comparing him to a neighbor's cat, whom you can't walk past without petting - she'll follow you and absolutely demand scritches (her sister pulls a disappearing act, so it must be a question of personality, rather than nurture).

Yay Ceddy!
Its amazing to see the baby steps our furry ones make.

Lilly had a moment like that today. My mom was over today and Lilly didn't hide under the bed like she normally would she jumped right up on the couch next to my mom, gave her a headbutt and started sniffing her shoes. I was absolutely floored.

I hope Cedar keeps making to strides to being one really brave kitty!!

Good for you Cedar!
Mine are OK with visitors...except Toby will hide from kids. Usually they don`t go out of their way to make friends with visitors that only come occassionally, but both of my cats went nust over one friend who i had`nt seen in awhile....and they had never met. They just would`nt leave her alone...even wanted to jump on her lap...and they are not overly-lappy-cats! I was amazed!

Doesn't it just give you such a great feeling when a scared kitty makes such a bold move? I get so happy when my little Pearl comes out of her safe place and comes for a cuddle. She actually let someone besides me and my s/o a couple times, and I wanted to jump for joy!

Aren't these new steps they take the most amazing things??? And then they act so non-chalant about while Mommy is picking herself up off the floor!

Wow...Lily looks EXACTLY like my step dad's cat Katie. Do you know what breed she is cuz we are trying to find out.
