This week on Monday and Tuesday I was at a staff development conference for work. After lunch on Monday I almost immediately began to feel ill. My stomach hurt and I didn't feel much like eating. For the next 2 days the nausea and stomach cramping continued. I haven't eaten much of anything since Tuesday cause I just feel gross and nauseous afterwards. Last night I finally started feeling hungry again so I went to dinner with my finace. When we got home I felt terrible again and then today Its gotten even worse. I won't go into details, I wouldn't want to gross anyone else. I am going to the doctor today. I feel dehydrated, nauseous, my stomach hurts, and I have to run to the bathroom like every 30 min. I left my students with a sub today. I hardly ever do that! But I think a trip to the doctor is in order.

Has anyone else had food poisoning before? Does this sound like all the right symptoms?

Under the cats, mostly.
Possibly. It's either that or you've got a run-of-the-mill bog standard tummy bug. Mostly they pass through your system within a few days. As long as you're drinking plenty of fluids, it should flush through nicely. See the doctor though just in case, but I think he'll advise the same thing. They always do here anyway. Drink flat soda because it replaces the lost sugars AND fluids etc etc. Other than that - go to bed and rest and leave the PC alone you daft bat!!!

Get well soon

Is there anything going around at your school? I have no idea if it's food poisioning or a virus, but I'm glad you're going to the doctor, and I hope you feel better soon!!!!!

sounds more like the flu... when I had food poisoning (from bad crab no less) it came on just as suddenly, and was horrible for the duration, but once everything was completely expelled it got better... so it lasted about 24 hours.

I've had food poisoning that took several days to run its course -- with similar symptoms. I'd bet on that, but see the doctor anyway, just to be on the safe side. Hope you're feeling better soon. It's the PITS!

Sounds more like a big than food poisoning to me.
Food poisoning, in my previous experience with it, seems to be more "violent" and run its course more quickly--usually within 24 hours. If you haven't vomited like 18 million times, its probably more of a bug.
Sorry, I know that's gross, but there you have it.

i had similar pains and symptoms back in July last year-- turned out i had gallstones-- i didnt eat for a week i was in so much pain-- everytime i went to the ER they would make me drink water which i couldnt hold down and take xrays-- the xrays never showed anything but i was in soo much pain-- they ended up calling hubby (who had stayed home with the kids for me to go to ER) to come and get me and had me on demerol. It didnt do much for the pain and i spent my birthday and the week following in and out of the ER-- they finally referred me to a gastro doc and i was in so much pain i couldnt even make the one week wait to my appointment- i went into the ER and demanded that they call him in- he came in and admitted me-- put me on an iv as i hadnt eaten in over a week and still wasnt keeping water down and was dehydrated. I had multiple tests, dye tests, xrays and other stuff i cant recall. Pain subsided magically and they sent me home on a friday with an appointment for a gallbladder removal the following monday. ended up back in the ER with more pains that weekend still hadnt eaten so they started giving me stuff in my iv to help replace my electrolytes and were talking about feeding me thru some kinda tube or something. Ended up having emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. Lost over 25 pounds during that 2 week stretch.

Im pretty much ok now but my body tells me very very fast now if i eat something that doesnt agree with my gallbladder less body.

Good luck.
I'm glad you most likely don't have food poisoning. I had it once and it was the worst I've ever felt.

I've had food poisoning 3 times in the past year, and each time, it was the worst pain I have ever been in in my entire life. I seriously thought I was going to die! However, the sick part only lasted about an 8 hour or so duration, and I was still queasy for the rest of the following day, but the symptoms were gone, thank God!

I understand that food poisoning usually strikes several hours after eating. Maybe 4 - 8 hours? I had salmonella once, and I just sank to the floor, the pain was so bad, then I was sick all day, and my temperature was 95, and for about 3 days after that I just had no energy. Either way, it's just a rotten feeling, huh? Hope you feel better. (soda crackers & 7-up!)

well back from the dr. Its most likely viral food poisoning. So not much to do but relax, drink fluids, and bland diet. Hopefully I'll start to feel better soon. I am gonna go take a nap here in a few! Thanks for helping out.

What did you eat? Just curious if it was something that was meat that could have been undercooked, or if it was dairy that may have spoilt, or a mayo based thing that was left out too long? did anyone else get sick?
I definitely got food poisoning from a Taco Bell several years ago. I went, ordered a taco (I think chicken that had sourcream). I was sick within an hour- without getting too gross let's just say I didn't throw up.
I thought it was fluke. About a week later, got something either the same or very similar and it happened again. I then resolved never to eat at that taco bell again, and actually didn't eat at any Taco bell for several years.

I am almost 100% sure it was a chicken ceasar salad we got at the hotel I stay at on Monday. The salad had a creamy ceasar dressing which I am assuming was mayo based. After the salad was when I first really started to feel gross.

Sorry to hear about your taco bell experience. That sucks!
