Hi just a quick intro... my name is christine and we have just adopted a 9-10 week old X -Persian ginger girl kitten called Claudia. So hi from the both of us
..
I just found this place when i was serching for a reason as to why she keeps weeing around the house.. she goes in her box too but if she gets the chance (and not all the time) she will go into a corner or on something lying on the ground and do what she needs too (never no:2 though.. though she tries to do that in the pot plants... So if anyone can help or give a reason or even point me in the direction of a site that might be able to give a solution to stop her doing this and just stick to her box id love to hear from you...

Thanks and glad to be here

Meow!!

It could be that she has a bladder infection. First get that checked out at the vets. if she checks out ok in the health department, then its just a behavorial issue. Shes still young. Does she have close access to her litterbox? If you have a two story house a litterbox up stairs and down will help. two litterboxes on just one floor would help also. take her and put her in the litterbox often to get her trained to use it. Make sure you get rid of the oder where she has peed as she will go use that area again if she smells urine.

Hi Libertine,
Welcome to TCS.
Hmmm... a kitten n started to wee2 around?
is her litter box easily accessible by her meaning can she hop into the litter easily (coz some litter box might b slightly high for some kittens), the cleanliness of the litter (coz some cats r very particular of this), the location of the box (too high, too noisy etc). all this muz take into the account...

hope this info helps...

Welcome Christine & Claudia to TCS

Its great to welcome another Australian to the boards - we need more of us here!!! lol

I am sorry to hear about Claudias problem - yes it could be a bladder infection or something similar - have you taken her to the vet to rule out a health reason? Have you changed litters recently? Has she always done this? or just started? do you have 1 or 2 litter trays?
It is interesting that she doesnt always do it though.

I think its a good idea to have a look around the health&nutrition forum and maybe even the behaviour forum as alot of people have similar issues. If you cant find your answer then post it there and our experts will be able to help you more.

Please send me or another mentor a message if you need any help at all in
the forums.

welcome again from me and my boys

Thanks for all the lovely warm welcomes everyone

Im going to be taking her to the vet at the end of thi sweek as she's due for her next vacination then so will get it checked out at the same time.
Ohhhh!! you wouldnt believe this.. just as im typing here she's just ducked over behind the heater and started to do it again.. grrrrr!!!
Anyways if its not an infection etc ill be totally at a loss..iver read around the forums here and i guess the only thing to do then will be to spray some type of citrus spray around so she is turned off going to those places. She had her fav litter which ages ago we tried to change but found that that casued her to find other place to do her buisiness.. its a smalish house so only one box is needed and its low to the ground.. cleaned about 1-2 times a day. For the first two weeks she had no trouble and was going as she should be then she settled in and started doing this..
ahh well, thanks guys once again for the welcome... hope everone is well
