Does anyone know if you can breed a full blooded Persian with a full blooded Himalayan?

Also, at what age should cats be to start breeding?

Hi there!

Welcome to TCS. I've got some good news for you. There is NO such breed as a Himalayan. Himalayan is the "Pointed" pattern of the Persian.

Sooooooooooo if you have breeding rights and you know what you breeding plan is (a lot of breeders don't like mixing their pointeds and their un pointeds because CPC's aren't the best!) then go right ahead.

So Persian = Himalayan. Don't worry it is a common mistake made.

Yes, I know that the Himalayan is just a different color of Persian. I was just wondering what the outcome might be if a point was bred with a solid.

You would get a mixed litter. Some will be pointed, others solid. Pointed might be recessive so you might have less of them. I think (not sure) that the points could take on a different color based on the solid involved (now I'm curious, I could be completely wrong on that ??).

Well, I have a Seal Point and I am getting a Blue Persian. I was just wondering if one would overide the other.

The pointed gene would be recessive to the solid colors, so unless your solid color persian is also carrying the pointed gene, you won't get pointed kittens. Both sides have to be either showing it or carrying it.

What are the colors on the persian (parents, grandparents and great grandparents)?

Seal (think of it as "black") would be dominate. Blue is recessive. If those are the only colors involved, you would get black kittens.
If the sealpoint is carrying bluepoint, then you would get both black and blue kittens.

If the blue is carrying pointed gene you could get a seal point or blue point (if the seal point parent is carrying dilute).

Yup you would get mostly blues and they would be CPC - which the term is generally not as good as normal. Do you have pictures of your babies?

Sorry for the misunderstanding, it's just the way you said full blooded Persian & Himi as if there were two seperate breeds.

lol I feel stupid! I didn't know that Himis & Persians were the same breed! Good thing I came here to be educated. You have one gorgeous kitty there.

GoldenKitty, thanks for clarifying. I had no idea what CPC stood for(I still don't really know....if you want to educate me, feel free!
).

Glad we could help out!

CPC means that a Colour Point cat and a Solid/tabby/bicolour cat have been bred together and all the kittens that aren't Colour Point are CPC's.
