I agree with Karen - If you want to elope - then do it!!

I think the Echanted Forest sounds so romantic, this wedding is for you and your fiancee, do what YOU guy want and what YOU think will make this day memorable!!

I really wish you the best of luck with it all!

I just put a hold on the Ambassitor Ballroom today!! We still have to look at 2 more places. But it does mean changing out date to June 16, 2007, instead of June 9, 2007. I can't wait!!!!

This day should be so special, something that you and your fiancee will remember for the rest of your lives, do what makes you happy, this is YOUR day, isn't it!?

Good for you, Rockcat! I think the Enchanted Forest sounds awesome...very romantic!

I agree that you absolutely shouldn't let yourself be talked into a big wedding if you don't want one. I had a full wedding, and had a wonderful time doing it. But my brother had a "surprise" wedding...they had a party where both families were together and surprised us all by just up and getting married there. It was wonderful, too...no less so than my more traditional ceremony! And they aren't any less happily married than we are.

Amy - you look so pretty, oh I am so happy for you! It's perfect for you. I might have missed it...did you pick out your bridesmaids dresses? We are going dress shopping this weekend - yahoo! So hopefully I will have something to post next week.

Okay, let me just run this possible wedding dilema by you guys. My good friend is one of my bridesmaids in our wedding...known her forever. Her husband is a DJ and she told me that he would probably be offended if we didn't ask him to DJ. I thought it would cause problems so against my better wishes, my fiancee asked him and he happily accepted. So, I get an email from my friend saying that it's probably going to be a tough one for him since I want all "rock" (where that came from I don't know) and that I should try not to be a bridezilla about the whole thing. I was like, I haven't even talked to him about anything yet, not a peep! UGH! So now, I feel like we're stuck in what could be bad situation. What do I do? It's my wedding and I should be able to play whatever we want to play, we are paying him! It's not like we can take back asking him now. So I was just thinking all communication will be between me and Dennis and then Dennis will convey to the DJ. What do you guys think? thanx!

Its YOUR wedding! You already are allowing the guy to DJ when you could have chosen anyone. You should have whatever music YOU want and that does NOT make you a bridzilla.

One It's your wedding.... Pick the music YOU want. My Fiance and I have banned any and all rap and from our music selections and are limiting it to 50's 60's 70's and 80's, unless pre approved by us. Reasons behind it is by cousin's wedding a few months ago had all the music she liked in high school and the older guests didn't really enjoy it very much. My other cousin got married a 3 years ago and she had a band that played only the oldies and everyone had a great time, young and old. If this guy refuses to play the music you want then fire him and find someone who will. Every DJ I have talked to said that requests like that are NOT unreasonable at all. YOU and paying THEM. You and your Fiance should sit down with the DJ and set the ground rules. He should expect and accomidate your needs.

I agree.

Although...this may be a case of your friend unwittingly creating a conflict by playing "go-between". Maybe she has a mistaken impression that she knew what you wanted and passed it along to him, then taking some off-the-cuff comment he made and passing it back to you. So, first, I'd try getting together with him directly to talk it over. Try to keep an open mind and not go into the discussion irritated. It may be a situation like that old "telephone" game where a message passed between people starts to erode quickly.

BUT...if he really is going to be a prima donna at this point, it'll probably only get worse. A professional wedding DJ would, first and foremost, want to help you create the atmosphere you want, not influence it with his or her own taste. You are not being a "bridezilla" by expecting a vendor to live up to your expectations and the contract you made with him. (Assuming you're paying him...if you're not it might make the situation a little more sticky.)

If that's the case, I know it would be awkward because he's your bridesmaid's husband, but I'd cut him loose. There would be some serious stress on your relationship with your friend either way, but at least you'd be able to have the wedding you want. I'd try to soften it as much as possible by saying that you understand his feelings and that he would like to have some license, so you don't want to burden him with trying to do something against his grain.

ANY DJ worth their salt expects to play what the bride and groom request unless otherwise stipulated. Knowing what you want and asking for it is your RIGHT- you have the RIGHT to a wonderful wedding and I sincerely hope that is what you and your fiance get!

Renee, the Enchanted Forest wedding sounds absolutely beautiful! I say GO FOR IT! What matters most is that YOU TWO want it and that you just get married already
.

Susan, I'm letting each girl pick out her own bridesmaid dress. We're getting them from David's Bridal. They're going to be in this light-brown color called "latte" and they'll carry pink Gerbera daisies with a sunflower in the middle (that's what the plan for now is anyway). I work with a guy who DJs on the weekend, so he's going to DJ for me at an amazing (in a very good way) price. Susan, you'll be happy to know that "Livin' On A Prayer" and "Always" by Bon Jovie are both at the top of the "Must Play" list! We're sticking with mostly Southern rock and stuff like Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind, and Fire. Our "Do Not Play" list includes most rap, pop, Macarena, and the Chicken Dance!!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words about my dress
. Only solidifies what I knew the moment I tried it on- it is definitely THE dress! I cannot wait to see all of your dresses (love yours Tracy!) as well!

Well I finally went and picked out my dress today!!. I had a very specific idea in mind of what I wanted and I ended up getting something rather different!
Unfourtunatley I don't have any pictures of it (my camera malfunctioned at the most inoppourtune time)
but no matter I will be back to try it on more than likely next month when my bridesmaids go for their fittings.

But I'll give you a description!!, It's a Maggie Sottero dress..it's what they call a diamond colour and it's made of chiffon. It is a strapless dress with a gathering of the material at the waist. It's also a semi-catherdral length train. It was strangley enough the very first dress I tried on
although I did continue on and try on 10 more dresses just to be sure..but I knew the moment I put it on that it was the dress for me!

Again..I'll post pics when I can!

I found my dress too!! And my bridesmaid dresses!!

My dress is a white halterneck gown, with beading on the straps and bust, gathering at the waist and a small train. I just fell in love with it as soon as I put it on and new it was the ONE!!
So happy!

And my bridesmaid dresses are great too - They are a halter neck top with beading and an A-line skirt with a slight train like mine! And the colour is Indigo! Its the most fantastic blue colour I just love it!!

And I also got the cutest little tiara!! And I also ordered my veil from Ebay!!

How exciting!!

Is the dress like any of them that you showed me? I'm really anxious to be able to see them!

You know the really funny thing about it is that I tried on all of the dresses I showed you and although they were incredibly beautiful they didn't suit me. I ended up getting a dress I didn't even pick out for myself...the saleswoman suggested I try it on...and I loved it!..I knew immediatley it was my wedding dress!

Oh I am just so excited for you!!

Did you try on the one with the navy that went all the way down the back too? I really loved that one - but I know that this one is 100x's better! I'm so happy that you found the dress that was made FOR YOU!

I can't wait to see pictures!!
