Well I just got engaged on Nov 25th. My parents were planning me and bf's wedding prior to that date though
Everything's being left in the air for now because we need to wait until after his sisters wedding in oct 2006, so we're thinking maybe spring 2007 or so... although I always wanted a fall wedding.. We talked about doing it nov 2006 but I think that it's too close to his sisters and a lot of the family that goes to hers may not come to ours.. I don't know.

But we don't really have anything planned. Probably the church. I'd frankly rather go to vegas or the courthouse or something but my family is very religious so that won't work. I always thought I'd want a big wedding but now I don't really need it. It's the marriage I'm looking forward to, and I'd rather have the money for household stuff anyhow. But that's not going to happen so we'll see how it all turns out.

Well, I'm only "mentally engaged", if that counts; me and bf both want to marry and he even asked me a few days ago if we shouldn't just do it in summer. However that was a bit too fast for me and after he realized he needs a bit more money to buy me "a decent ring" we postponed that decision but still I keep planning it and whenever i see a wedding page or mag, I get that blissful stare

Yesterday I was so mad at him and thought I was going to dump him but we had a long and tearful discussion this afternoon and I feel more confident than ever*relieved smile*
In fact people already start calling us by the other's name and it's quite funny at the vet's when he has to point out that we are *not yet* married so we don't share a name yet...

Yup, Bradley and I have one, too (though I cannot figure out how to center the picture of us on top
). Our knot page is here: http://weddings.theknot.com/pwp/view...66946240833360

Alaynna, it looks like you had a beautiful wedding! Those wreaths you were both wearing are so neat!

Fran, hon, you know what happened is for the best (though it doesn't feel that way sometimes). You'll eventually find the right guy that you'll really WANT to be married to!

Tari, thank you for the advice
. You'd make an amazing wedding planner! If we don't have our wedding at the Mulberry (and it's looking like that more and more each day), I'm definitely hiring a day-of planner!

Edited to add: Now I can see your dress for some reason Beryl. GORGEOUS!
I love the detail at the waist!
I love your knot site Amy!!, very cool..once Jeff and I get our engagement pics back I'm going to make one too

Thanks Tracy
I've gone a bit overboard- I have a Wedding Channel wedding website, too
.

A big bit of news- it looks like we're moving up our wedding date to Sept. 9th! The place I wanted more than anything- the Wilmington Island Club (on the island where I grew up)- is available on that date only and the date works fine for us. We're going to get the details on the place this afternoon, but it looks like a done deal. Plus, it'll cost us about HALF of what the Mulberry would (meaning we can splurge on fun extras now!). PLUS, it's within walking distance of the church I grew up in, so I may be able to convince Bradley to have the ceremony there
.

Now that we're changing the date to September, I'm not going with the out-and-out fall theme. Instead, my colors are going to be shades of
brown and pink- very trendy and very cute!

Ok everybody - make room for me!!!!!!!!

I'm sure most of you have seen my announcement in another thread that I GOT ENGAGED LAST NIGHT!
Woo-Hoo!!!
Well, my fiance aparrently couldn't contain himself. He had just picked up the ring. I got home from work and was going on and on about every day stuff - otherwise he probably wouldn't have even waited a half an hour. Anyway, showed me a little white box and just straight up asked me.
I just straight up said yes.
Ok, maybe not the most romantic engagement story you ever heard, but I think its so sweet that he couldn't wait.

OK, update- we sign the contract for the Wilmington Island Club today! With that, our date officially changes to Sept. 9th, 2006! Here are some pictures I took of the club yesterday:
A view of the inside of the huge reception room (keep in mind it was a Tuesday afternoon, not set up for a wedding):

The windows in the reception room (it overlooks the lagoons and golf course):

One of the 4 crystal chandeliers in the reception room:

The back entrance to the club (the front is stunning, but I couldn't stop and park to get a picture):

The arbor in the courtyard where we'll get married (it's going to look beautiful when I'm done with it)

I'm so excited. The 2 good things about it is it's about 2 minutes from the house I grew up in AND it'll cost less than HALF of what the Mulberry Inn would have!

Good news- we've paid the NONREFUNDABLE deposit, so the place is OURS for Sept. 9th!!!
It's unreal. We're going to be able to get a full sit-down dinner for just $30/person- no hidden charges. I am beyond thrilled!

Congratulations all you girls! I'm a little jealous, I confess. My guy and I have set a year (fancy that... not even a month *laugh*)... supposedly in 2007. However, I've seen neither hide nor hair of a ring yet although I know I will get proposed to sometime in the next five months (he promised me that) *laugh.*

I have been doing some, um, not planning, but researching... and this is the dress that I absolutely love so far.

I'm looking at having a wedding either in the spring or fall (I prefer fall, he wants spring) and we both want a medieval theme.

Home of Jon Bon Jovi!
Wow - I've been gone too long! And now I get to join this thread!!! WAHOO!

Congrats to all our soon-to-be brides and as of Sunday, I can join you all on the planning. Yeah, we got engaged too!

Amy - that place looks fabulous! There is no way I could find anything around here that beautiful and that cheap.

We haven't even started looking for places or setting dates yet...hoping for Sept/Oct. I think I need a couple weeks to just enjoy the engagement part.
Everytime I think of the planning involved, I lose my breath.

Anyway, I am so glad I get to be a part of all this celebration!!! Again, congrats to you all!!!
