My cat is about 1 1/2 years old. She doesn't always use the litter box. She both urinates and deficates outside the box. It's always in the same spot! I dont know what to do. The litter box is cleaned like every 3rd day. Any suggestions, I really want to get rid of this problem!

Try cleaning the box out every day or 2. The only time Bear doesnt go in the litter box is when it get kinda full.

I've occasionally had some problems wtih training, but more in kittens. Your cat has become attatched to that particular spot. Sometimes they don't always pick the area we think is best but it suits them. What you should do is place another litter box in that area (even if its really near the other one). Try to get her to use it there. Cats don't like change so just slowly start moving it towards the location you want it (even if its another room, be slow). You want to slowly form a new behavior.

Imagine what it would be like for you to use a toilet that hasn't been flushed in three days. Now, imagine having to STAND and dig around in three days worth of pee and poop. I think I would decide to potty on the floor instead of having to stand in my own filth!

Please scoop at least once daily and preferably scoop each morning and night.

First of all, is the litter unscented? Unlike many people, cats do NOT like scented litter (the "fresh scent" will trigger an asthma attack in me, so my cats lucked out
). Also, cats do like a clean litter box, and often like 2 litter boxes, 1 for pee & 1 for poop. And actually, having the 2 boxes per cat reduces the smell & cleaning just seems to go faster, too! And if at all possible, put the boxes in the spot she prefers.
Please keep us posted on how she's doing! Toilet issues - seems like pet owners & moms always have to deal with this one
