i am waiting on a webcast to start in a few minutes for work and in the meantime im reading a bunch of posts here. It just struck me that several of yall have cats that are named similarly-- not like two names the same but like the member who has Pixel, Cable, Mouse and Java-- all computer related names and then theres the food named kitties: Nacho, Gordito, Poptart, (and Orion but his name doesnt fit unless its a brand name im not aware of). Then theres Achilles and Cupid-- i guess they arent really related but they are both mythical characters i guess. These three just caught my eye-- I love the names dont get me wrong. Hubby has always said if we end up with another cat it will have to be named something like Grape Jelly or Apple Jelly. Although i tend to name my pets based on their personalities and what names fit them well. (
My 5 yr old named Peanut Butter) lol Just an interesting observation.

Do we have any other grouped named kitty families here?
Would you mind sharing why or how you came to name them ?

Aren't those just the cutest ?! I am like you, I just name them on what I feel fits, but usually a person name.

I love Peanut Butter Toast. That is so cute. If you just call him peanut butter maybe you could name your next one Crackers

We have several Gods and Goddesses: Lilith, Pan, Khepera, Osiris, Loki. A few mythic personages: Merlin, Nimue and Arthur, and Ulysses. A few Tolkien inspired: Eowyn (and her late sister Luthien) and Beruthiel. One Shakespeare inspired: Romeo. One Civil War inspired: Pickett. One Harry Potter inspired: Fleur. One superhero: Flash. One Matrix: Trinity.

My friend has a Peanut- and she wanted a new cat. I ended up with stray kittens and one is "supposed" to go to her. *ahem* its been over a month. Anyway, she wants to name him Jelly, so that's what he's been called. Personally I think "Butter" would be more appropriate, b/c he's an orange tiger. We will see what happens- he def will get renamed if he stays!
My husband has a thing about naming the cats after rock group members. He had an cat named Ozzy in his younger years. He wanted to name Zakk Randy, for Ozzy's late guitarist, but I put my foot down, having known a Randy I couldn't stand. Therfore, Zakk is named after Zakk Wylde, Ozzy's current guitarist.

I have a drink (Bailey...without the 's) and a food (Cheeto!). Not really done on purpose though, just kind of turned out that way. The funny thing is that Cheeto got into a bag of Cheeto's once and abolutely loved them
(I don't feed them to her on purpose!)

Well, I know that Cable, Pixel and Java are named that way on purpose. And Mouse used to live with them too.

We had 8 kittens in April, and when I found them, one of them kept crawling away from mom, so I named her Dora for Dora the Explorer. Then one of the white ones had 2 little spots on his head like horns, so he became Dante. The littlest runt became "Dumpling", the smoke tabby became D'Artagnan (later Duchess as I was incorrect on that one), and the brown tabby with little freckles on his nose was Dennis (the Menace). Unfortunately, ingenuity ran out and the other three were Smudge, Bear, and Gretel!

I didn't get to name Achilles, but his name being in the same realm just happened to be one piece of the perfect puzzle that fit together when deciding to get him. I wanted to name the new cat something to do with love, like Cupid. I was thinking Valentine. Oh well. I wanted to be able to call them something...like some sort of cute name that fit their names.

I really love unique names like Peanut Butter Toast.

Toby and Tedy just sound cute together...and both start with the letter T. If we ever get a girl kitty we are going to name her Tilly!
In our family all of us are LSH except for our son who is MSH ( Hubby and I could`nt agree on a first anem for him that started with L ...so we just went to the next letter.)

Well, Ace was already named when we got him, and so was Ozzy. We chose Skittles and Pepsi; we adopted them together, and the names just fit them and related to each other.

Ok, so I am very "ordinary" with Jack, Sheba, and Dexter...no fun relations with these names...

Well, as for my crew of 5 -
JOEY - a manx-mix with absolutely no tail & really long hind legs, like a baby kangaroo;
J.C. - my daughter named him (technically he's hers, but he fights with her senior cat, Christy) and I kept the name because he's very like my original J.C. (short for JonnyCat cuz JC the 1st looked exactly like the kitten on the litter bag);
CINDY - actually is Cinder Cone, because she was rescued from the Coso Junction Rest Area next to Cinder Cone (Hill), and she is as black as cinders;
AMY - the name just fits;
ANDY - after the boy in "Toy Story".

I really like human names for pet names - I have Benja, Sophie, Holly and Bridget

But then I also have Elmo, Muffin and Lonestar as well! and of course the little unnamed boy - who I might name Rory!!

We tried to stay with a theme. We named Ophelia and then we got Trent. Before we named him we "tried" Shakespearian names, especially ones from Hamlet. They just did NOT fit with that kitten! So the theme was broken up, but Trent was definitely Trent (although sometimes I still think he should have been named the second choice of Rozz).

When Jameson first adopted me, I went the Breakfast at Tiffany's route and didn't name him until I was sure no one was going to call and claim him. (I met him at a bar.) After about a month, we sat down for a chat.

"I can't just keep calling you 'cat' it doesn't work."

"I know."

"It's about time we get you a name. How about (something)"

:
:

"(Something else)"

"Nope."

"Jameson?"

"Meow.... purrrr"

And we have a winner.

Bast was an Egyptian hearth goddess, not to mention a few other things. She was a spitfire as a kitten (and still is) and doesn't let anyone in the apartment before checking them out. It fits...
