I think my adorable 13-14 week old Noli may have a cold or allergies. He has a runny nose, puffy, red and runny eyes, has little to no energy and sneezes and shakes his head often. I'm not in Dallas this weekend, so I can't check up on him but my dad thinks he may be allergic to something. He's put Sweetie outside except on rare occasions when she comes in and plays with Noli until he gets tired. From what my dad says, Noli has been like this for a week. Could he have developed an allergy or is this just a cold? If it is an allergy or a cold can we grind up a little bit of Children's Tylenol and put it in with chickenor something? This was something we were advised to do with my dog when he was sick.

I will also be taking him to the vet as soon as possible, but things are very tight right now and my dad needs to pay for food before vet bills.

It sounds like an upper respiratory infection, which is a kitty cold. It is a virus so there's not much you can do, but your vet will need to give you some antibiotics to prevent any secondary bacterial infections. Did you get your cat from a shelter? I got my kitty from the fort worth humane society and they filled my antibiotics prescriptions for free. If you have another cat, keep them separated since uris are very contagious.

I wouldn't give him any medications unless the vet directs it specifically for the cat. You could try calling some vets and see if they will work out a payment plan with you, some vets will do this, others will not.

I`d agree...take him to the vet. Probably URI...and maybe even ear mites. My Toby had them when we first got him and he shook his head quite a bit till we FINALLY got rid of them.)
