Hello everyone,

Well, we still have our little pregnant stray cat! We've named her Chalupa and she is doing really well. The vet confirmed her pregnancy and estimated her age to be between 10 and 12 months. Pretty young to be having babies, but older than I initially thought. She's been dewormed for roundworms and has no fleas or earmites and has tested negative for feline AIDS/Leukemia! (that was a happy day!)
She's doing really well and has gotten even more HUGE, which I'm continuously amazed at.
So now I have a few questions. When we saw the vet (Nov. 2nd) she gave her another 2 to 4 weeks until delivery, which mean we can expect babies anywhere from this week until Nov 30th. I was hoping that if I described some signs we've noticed that someone who's gone through this before could give me a closer date range for when we might be expecting bubs.
1. When we first brought her in, Oct. 27th-ish she was already showing (though we weren't sure she was pregnant yet)
2. I've been able to feel the babies for about a week and half now.
3. We've been able to feel the babies moving for 4 days.
4. She has finally started to nest as of Thur. or Fri! I was concerned about this as she had no interest in nesting at all when we brought her inside. I was afraid she might be too young to be a really good mother (still a concern, I know) but now everytime we visit her she pops out from some hidey place, and I'm running out of blankets and towels to cover them all!
Sorry everytime I post it's so long, and thanks in advance for any insights you all may have for us.
We really just want to do the best we can for her and her bubs so we can find them all healthy and happy homes.
Thanks again,

~Julia

Also...make sure that you keep her indoors only until she has weaned her kittens and has been spayed. The report that Hissy linked is the best resource on what to expect.

Thanks,
She's def. staying inside until we can spay her. She seems very content to stay in our office or our bedroom.
The site looks interesting, but is there a way to access the information without buying the book? Perhaps I just need to look around more.

By the time you find and order the book ,and get it, the kittens will probably already be here. It sounds like she is getting pretty close, probably a week or so by my calculations of what you are saying. It IS amazing how BIG they can look when they are expecting...near the end you will be able not only to feel the babies move , but SEE them too.
Let us know how it is going for her ,and YOU too... :-) and how many she has.
Be sure you post pics as soon as possible too.
Praying all goes well !

Thanks! I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later myself! I can't wait much longer!
I've heard you can see the babies move, but so far I haven't seen them, just felt them, so she probably has at least a week or so.
I'll definitely put up some pictures of the bubs when they're born. Right now we're trying to guess how many are in there. I say at least 3, but my fiance' is hoping for two. Poor guy, he's kind of new to cats! Let's just hope it's not upwards of 6!
Thanks,

~Julia

Yes, we noticed that when we first brought her inside, but I was looking the other day and it looks like there's an even bigger clear area around her nipples now.

That usually happens about 2 weeks before the kittens are born.

I'd say you probably have a week to go, but that's just based on the information I have and my experience.
