Jesse James has never seen a Christmas tree
and thinks it's a new toy just for HIM...UGH!

Any guesses on how long it will remain standing?

We put it up today because both Dave and I work retail. We have our kids ages 15,14,12,11 every other week. So the next Friday, Saturday, or Sunday We happen to have off with the kids may just be AFTER Christmas...

We (the kids and I) decided to do it today. I must be crazy.....

Dave said by the time we get home from work tomorrow it will be knocked down.

and
at the same time!

I gave up last year, trying to put a tree up. all of our ornaments are too expensive to put up.. only for the boys to tear down. So until they get older and calm down a bit.. no christmas tree is going to be put up

With our new kitten now 2½ in people years, and acting just the same, there will be no tree, either real or artificial this year despite what photo ops might have been possible.

I had an artificial tree last year. I actually taped it to the floor and tied ALL the decorations onto it. That way, when little claws and paws decided to play with it, nothing fell off and the tree didn't fall down!

Word of warning though, please make sure you use shatterproof baubles just in case kitty does knock them off....

My parents' tree is such a state from when Tibby and Molly were kittens!!
They still put it up and we just let the cats have it!

My tree is VERY small, so the cats generally stay off it!
But then again, there's another kitten now!

....and yes, most of the plastic baubles spend their time scattered around the floor or in the conservatory!
But they love it, how can we stop them enjoying such frolics!!

I'm not sure about a tree for this year either. I have 2 new pups in the house, who have never been around a Christmas tree, and they are both still trying to taste-test any thing on the floor, thus if the kits knock off an ornament, it may end up being "lunch" for one of the pups..I am thinking about a really small tree (like 8 inches) to place on my mantel or on top of the TV..

Megan loved to climb our tree last year. She was still small enough that it just quivered and didn't fall over. She's a big girl now, so I don't know what will happen. I might just set it up next week without anything on it to see how it goes

I still don't know if i should put one up this year?!. Rosie climbed it when she was one year old, so little miss "no fear" Sophie is almost certain to climb it even though she's older now because she's still into everything.

If i put one up i'll buy a small fibre optic one that i can keep my eye on with them

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
Last year was my first christmas in my own place and we didnt have a Christmas tree, so Mark has now bought me one. However this was before we had a crazy cat about the place!
During the summer we decorated the living room and I cannot wait to put my tree up.
If Sleeves is interested in it, which I am 110% sure he will be I may have to take it down but I at least want the pleasure of decorating, my own tree, and my own house (biiiigggg cheesy grin) although Im sure im gonna regret it...

Mine has been up for over a week now. It`a prelit, so the cords won`t pull off. It is sitting in a med sized crock with old towels stuffed in to anchor it, and it seems pretty sturdy. Both cats have climed it a few times, but it has remained standing just fine.
I took some red satin and made a skirt to go around to cover the crock. (Just hemmed one edge and made a casing along the other, ran elastic though the casing to gather it, and tied it on the back side of the crock. I used red plastic ornaments (that look like glass balls...at least untill you are right up on them anyhow). The metal toppers are pretty sturdily connected, much more so than the glass ones are, but I put some hot glue around each one anyhow, then ran a small red ribbon through each one, knotted it about 1" above the top (so it would still dangle and so the ribbon could`nt be pulled lose from the ball) and then tied them in bows to the tree branches. I also made big red bows, (NO wired ribbon!)and tied them in the center with smaller ribbon (rather than wiring the bow together) and hot glued them at the knots ...and then just laid them in the tree. Then I stuck in red and white satin poinsettas (silk...that I had hot glued the centers in) I also put some large jingle bells on the tree that were tied in the same way I did the balls. The cats do play with, and take off some of the stuff on the lower branches...but I just let them, as they are`nt anything they can get hurt on or swallow...then when they go to nap I just pick the stuff up and put it back til the next day. They are having a riot! They think I brought in this new toy just for them! And they look so cute laying under the tree , surrounded by their prettily colored "catches of the day".

Luckily we have a room to put our christmas tree in...so the cats won't mess with it. We are putting it up in the upstairs office because it has a huge window that you can see from the street....so our tree will look nice up there...and we are putting it up this week...and hopefully will be finish with all the decorations by next week.....

You know in the Garfield Christmas ...(the old one) ..where garfield climbs up the tree to put the star on the top....well I had a cat when I was a child that would climb up just like garfield and knock all the ornaments off the tree....now that was a pain having to put the ornaments back up every day.

I haven't put a Christmas tree up since I got Cupid because I wasn't sure if I'd have to take it back down or not. I'm not about to tell him no for playing with a new "toy" in his house. I'm thinking about it this year...maybe a small 3' one, just to see. I saw an adorable pink one I have my eye on.

Thats funny! I wrapped about 20 gifts last night and left them in the living room and he didnt touch them at all! I thought they would all be torn up this AM, but nope! Maybe he will be okay with the rest of the decorations...like the tree. YEAH RIGHT! But a girl can wish can't she?!
