Do any of you use a vaporizer or a steamer? Which is better? And is it safe on pets. I need to get one because I was reading an article on allergies and sinus infections and it said that one of those helps.

I've always had a cool one since I was a child. Add a little mentholyptus liquid to it myself, but some people find the smell objectionable.

Cool steam is the one preferred by doctors....safer for children ( cause the water is cold versus hot ) and it doesn't harbor as much bacteria.

I have a cold air humidifier and it is great!
It really makes a difference. I wouldn't go with the warm ones because of the bacteria.

Is the mentholypus like vapor rub? What brands do you suggest? Not too cheap, but not too expensive either.

Thanks for the information!

I don't remember the brand, but it's in a little bottle near the Vapo-Rub and that stuff. It's an oil, so it's like 5 or 6 ounces. It doesn't go in the water because it would gum up the motor; there should be a little reservoir kind of thing near where the vapor comes out to put it in. I think it was under $5 (like $3.99) the last time and we had it all season. You could also check out Whole Foods, it might cost a little more but it would probably be a really good quality essential oil. Be sure your machine can handle it.
