Living in a rental has its real drawbacks....

my kitchen floor can never be clean. I swear there is dirt permantly ground into it. Anything I use can never seem to clean the floor. I've used bleach, and even a mr clean magic eraser!! That helped some but it still looks dirty. I mop all the time but it drives me nuts that after I mop it still looks dirty. Does anyone have an idea that will clean it??!!!

Thanks!

Movin' on up!
You may want to try a steam cleaner, to get the old, ground-in grime off. What material is your flooring? Has it been waxed? If so, you'll need to have the floor stripped.

For regular cleaning, I have a Bissell Flip It. One side dry vacs and the other cleans and squeegees the floor. This is a lot easier on my back, than mopping. It doesn't do well, in corners or along baseboards but, I have a long-handled scrub brush, for those.

What is the floor made of? Leno? If so, is it old and "you can`t hardly hurt it?", and can it be waxed afterwards if what I suggest dulls it???
If the answers to all of these questions is "yes"you might try Bar Keepers Friend. (It comes in a shaker like Ajax) It would be less likely to scratch if you make a paste out of it and rub it into the floor. Leave a few minutes then rub again and rinse well. (You actually may need to risnse several times to get it all up.)Then apply a couple coats of wax to protect and keep the dirt from sticking and penitrating again.
Let me know if you were able to do this and if it works for you.

thanks. its really old leno.... dull dull dull. I've waxed and stripped it myself before. I think I will just wax again. They are going to tear down this house anyway in a year. I'm not going to stress out over it. I had called the cleaning people to see what they use and the told me some chemical at Lowes then they said that this place is going to be renovated in 06.... so why bother? lol
