Any sewers here evert made bed sheets? For xmas I want to make steve a set of sheets in Colts blue, with a comforter that is actual colts NFL material and matching pillow cases. I dont know if i wanna sleep on them, LOL but it will make him happy. I would do everything in colts but the NFL material is SPENDY so i thought if i get enough to make the comforter..than match the blues that would be ok. I just want to know if anyone has made sheets before so I know how much yardage I may need to be getting.

Thanks. I actually found offical NFL Material for the Comforter..its more kid like than what they have..hehe but steve is a big kid.. here is an example..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

I cant bring myself to spend $50 bucks on sheets. makes me wanna cry thinking how much that is. LOL i know I know I am SUCH A CHEAP!

I was going to make the comforter than buy some lesser spendy sheets in the same shade blue...

Ah well maybe I will check ebay. they had two sets of Queen size sheets (we have a full GRR) for around $25 I can get them and upgrade our bed..LOL

I have never made sheets but plenty of other things, I can't help on that, I have been sitting here with 10 yards of $25 a yard for almost a year

for curtins for my downstairs family room and I cant get started, I keep looking at those blank windows, I guess it would take a good bit for sheets though, maybe if you looked at the right size of already made ones and look at the size then added enough for hemming and the bigger hem at the top that's about all I can tell you... (Why don't you just make him a pan of foot print brownies)
Good luck

I`ve made a good many things out of sheets...but never made sheets themselves. It would be easy enough to do, just use other sheets as patterns...but unless you find really wide fabric you will have to have a seam down the middle of it.
Another thought....How about buying a set of sheets in the "right color" of blue and just add a strip of decorative fabric to the top edge of the top sheet, and make him a pillowcase to match out of the "special fabric"???
