I'm almost sure I know why. Madden is a horribly picky eater so I had to change his food because he wouldn't eat the other kind we had him on. I did the mix to switch method, but it didn't really work because he just picked around the old food and ate the new food anyway.

Now he's got awful diarreah!! He's been wormed, and so far he isn't dehydrated and is playing and all like normal. I just don't know what to do now to stop the diarreah.

In most cases I would switch back to the old food and try switching slower later, but since he won't eat the old food how is that supposed to work? He also gets half a pouch of wet food twice a day and I'm wondering if maybe I should take that away until his stool hardens?? But then again, the reason I feed wet in the first place is for the moisture in his diet!

I'm at a loss. I don't know what to do! I'm almost sure this is because of the food switch, but now I don't know how to make the diarreah go away!

Any help, or advice would be greatly appriciated!

what food is he on now? also, has he had intestinal problems prior to this, other than the worms? if so, he may need some help replacing the beneficial bacteria in his intentinal track... diarrhea can be caused by so many different things...

Sharky, I didn't say Iams...he's now eating Purina one, the only dry food that was even remotely good for him that he would actually eat. I switched him over a time period of almost two weeks, but its not really relevent now. I've decided its not the food.

After I posted earlier, I continued to keep a close eye on Madden. His diarreah has worsened (nothing but liquid now) and hes now started throwing up anything that he eats. He's still drinking, but other than that he's pretty sick. Still no heavy breathing or third eyelid showing, but he obviously feels horrible.

I called my vet and he said to bring him in first thing in the morning unless he worsens or stops drinking, then I'll call him back and meet him tonight.

Some good vibes and prayers would be greatly appriciated....I'm very worried about my little guy!!

I took Madden to the vet today and it turned out to be nothing too serious!!

He said that he had a bacterial infection that should clear up quickly and gave me an antibiotic and some medicine to help with the diarreah and vomiting (so that he dosen't lose his antibiotic!). He did a fecal which came out negative, and said that other than his very upset tummy he's perfectly healthy!

Madden even takes his pills like a dream!!! Dosen't fight or anything. I put it in the back of his mouth and he just swallows!
I've never had a kitten so good about taking medicine!

Dr. Moon said that he should be back to 100 percent in the next day or so.
I'm so glad!! I was so worried that it would be something terrible! (I'm a huge worry wart!)

Thanks for all the good vibes!!
