Do you mean restore as in using the Window's Restore option or reinstall as in deleting everything off the computer and reinstalling them?

Why don't you try the Window's Restore option, Rhonda? If you can remember back to a date when everything was "normal". The only problem is that you will loose anything that you installed / saved after that date you put in.

Have you phoned Dell Technical Support for help?

Formatting and reformatting isn't as horrible as it may sound. In fact, it is amazing how fast and how "out of the box" your PC will be after the format -- it's like a tune-up for your PC.

If using the Windows XP restore tool doesn't do the job for you...save everything you can't live without...grab a cup of coffee (or two) and get your XP disk out for a total wipe-out and then a nice clean reinstall. Again, your PC will feel like "brand new-out of the box"...it is just a timely procedure reinstalling all that you saved before the format.

Warning -- make sure you have all your drivers in order before you wipe everything out!! EX: drivers for printer, scanner, etc.
