Hi.

well, my muffin reserves have run dry. I always make lots of muffins and bring them to school as snacks. Now I'm all out so I'll be doing some baking today.

I found a recipe for "basic" muffins and then you're supposed to add anything you want to it - berries, raisin, nuts... you can even make savory muffins with cheese or bacon...

Sounds like a lot of fun. So now I'm trying to find creative flavors of muffins.

Here's what I thought about so far:
- pina-colada (rum, pinneapple and coconut)
- blueberry and lemon
- apple, oats and nuts
- raspberry and chocolate chips
- cheese and brocoli

does anyone have any other suggestions?

A local bakery does carrot cake muffins with carrots, raisins and nuts. You could also do pineapple and coconut. Chocolate chip and peanut butter? Getting hungry now!

mmm... you guys are making me really hungry.

I'm not sure about putting actual peanut butter in muffins... but I might get some peanut butter chips. mix that with some chocolate chips. Yum! Or maybe peanut butter chips and bananas?

maybe I could find some "fancy" cheese like gruyere for my cheese muffins...

I'm thinking some cherry and nuts muffins would be good too. with some cinnamon

I'm gonna have a lot of baking to do today!!

I always like basic muffins with the juice's of a freshly squeezed orange, and add a little of orange peel zest for more orange flavor..

Well, I love to cook, but don't usually bake (I don't like to measure), but this sounds fun. Can you post the basic recipe?
Cheese and brocoli sound great.
Here's a wierd one - taco & cheese
leftover taco meat (or meat substitute) and cheddar...just thinking about what's in my fridge...

mmm... taco.
actually, I thought of making a jalapeno and cheese one but I think that would be better with a corn-based muffin.

here's the recipe:

oooh... I wish I had thought of the poppy seed and lemon one.
too late. groceries already done.

I think for now I'll make
- pina colada
- cherry and almonds
- apple, oats and cinnamon (maybe with some nuts too)
- blueberry and lemon
and maybe raspberry and chocolate chips (I really wanted to do raspberry and white chocolate chips but I couldn't find white chocolate chips)
I also didn't find peanut butter chips

mmmmm I second the bacon and cheese one, yummy! I find adding bacon to anything savoury justs "kicks it up a notch".
The banana, choc and peanut butter one sounds good too. Have you tried the other nut butters? You can get so many these days, and they're all good for you and tasty too. My fav is hazelnut butter. I use it to make choc chip cookies...hmmm yummy! Always makes my husband happy to come home to my baking!
