Hi there, I don't quite know where to post this question but I figured that the best place to ask is where all the breeders are.

I am currently looking for a pure white kitten with a dollface, and I don't know what kind of breeds offer that colour. I thought of the elegant Turkish Angora but their necks are a little long...
I don't even know where to start looking for a regular purebred white cat.

Thanks for the help!

I looove the Turkish Angora but they have a very foreign body type (orientalish) which dosen't sound like what you want. British Shorthairs come in a multitude of colors but grey is prominant.

White is a pretty common color but if you don't like some of the more extreme oriental looks then you might check out your shelter for a while cat. Just remember that if they are pure white then it increases the chance that it will be deaf.

Persians also come in white or not completely pure like chinchilla. There are many breeds with a silver overtone as well.

Have you seen the Turkish Van. Evidently they lvoe water and are good with people and allergies. Not completely white but have the van pattern. My kitty Clover in my sig is half himalyan, also displays the van patterning. Even that little bit of color can eliminate the chance of deafness.

If you want a place to start - I'd recommend stopping by the book store. You don't have to buy a book but there are sooo many books on purebreds and once you find something that looks interesting you can research it online.

Yah I think the shelter/rescue will be the best place for pure white.

The Ragdoll also comes in some lighter colorations and has a very sweet face (also a very large cat):

I love the ragdoll too~~ but they're quite large. By the way, the Turkish Van you introduced to me really caught my eye, they're adorable!!

I've heard a lot of wonderful things about the Turkish Van. They evidently have a very soft coat. Its not thick since they lack the undercoat and a medium hair length. I don't know where the affinity from water came from but they are usually really intrigued with it.

If you are more interested in shorthairs, you have white color cats in British SH's, American SH's, Scottish Folds, and American Curls.

Those all have the more "doll face" look.

The only experiences I have had with Turkish Vans have been bad - but they have been show experiences. I've never met a Turkish Van that liked the show bench.

What about a white devon rex? My dream kitty!

Good choice on the white devon. It seems that the white devons have more of a tendency to keep and have thicker coats then any other color. While the devons and cornish have the same personality, devons shed out their coats a lot more then the cornish. I prefer the cornish over devon in several ways. I like the longer/leaner/oriental look in cats.

I have a blue eye white cornish who always kept his coat till recently - he's 14 yrs old and now is starting to loose some of it. For years while showing him, judges commented on his thick coat in the middle of summer when most cats shed - they wanted to know if I kept him in the freezer!

I have a white Turkish Angora boy named precious, he is 1 year old.
I am from The Netherlands and he is a ''older type'' Turkish Angora(European type). Not as elegant as the American type.
He is doing very well at the catshows overhere

Here he is:

He also looks a lot like a white Norwegian Forestcat.

Ahhhhh I love Turkish Angora's. I really like the all white though various other colors are getting popular now.

Hi Anakat, your cat is beautiful!!
That is exactly what I want, and I was just wondering which breeder you purchased him from? I guess I like the "traditional" turkish angora.

Yep Wellington - seems that you gravitate to one "type" for the most part - you are either a round person or a slender/oriental person....and notice that people also resemble their cats???? The larger person usually has persians or maine coons, etc. and the more slender, hyper people have the oriental type of cats....

NO way does that turk look like a norweigan forest cat! I could tell he was a turk (and a very nice one too) without you telling me. I did own a turkish angora but found him a single cat home as he didn't get along with my rexes and he didn't want to be shown.

Thank you
Precious comes from cattery van Karalice here in the Netherlands. His father comes from cattery von Kedi Arkadas and is living at the Amidas cattery (all in The Netherlands).

I was looking on the internet and found a breeder in the USA who is breeding with european lines. I saw that they are expecting a litter from their european traditional Angora female with a white male.
This is the website: http://www.gildethros.com/

A lot of people do think he looks like one. Very often when i am on a show people say: '' Look a Norwegian Forestcat!'' Then i tell them it is a Turkish Angora

Those people must be breeding Wegies that resemble Turks!

I've only seen a few Wegies but I can instantly tell the difference. He's a turk 100%
