I am feeding my cats Royal Canin now, but after a lot of reading about catfood i want to give them better food.
I am going to try Nature's Variety Prairie Lamb & Rice. Is there anyone who is giving this food to their cats?
Is it a good food? And is it human grade?

According to AFFCO the feed control folks human grade doesnt exist in pet foods... many companies use that as a marketing tool and many that dont use meat and grain that would be in our food supply..this is for the US I am unswure of Netherlands.. The food reads good to me from what I remember ... I do know a few on here use it..

It's generally considered a good food. I tried it, but stopped buying it because Jamie didn't like it (the cans were "too big" for his taste).

I got some small cans and pouches for the cat and dog and both prefer them to the big cans

My dogs and kitties really like it. Yum, yum. I also feed HealthyPetNet which they LOVE too. You can read about it at my naturaldogcatfood link below. Good luck with making a decision.

It's a great food...I really like the Nature's Variety line. I feed a variety to ffods in the name of my cats not being finicky should a change in diet ever need to happen and Nature's Variety is one of my favorites and we've had nothing but good luck with it. It IS human grade and it is produced without performing lab tests on animals

It's more just degrees of human grade. Generally, what I am seeing is that a lot of companies use the leftovers from processing human foods, whatever those may be, whether they are simply leftovers or discarded, sub-level foods is not always clear from company to company.

True which is why I avoid by products cept for those verified to be just organs... If you have some research on who is usuing the "real " stuff and who isnt I would love to see it... I wish AFFCO would just define it so that all the good companies would be comfortable saying human grade..It also help to stick with companies that only make pet products

The research I've done has been sketchy and inconclusive at best. Naturally, when you call a company, they say 'Oh, yes, human grade. You could eat it!'. Basically, all I know now is the various things they can mean and still say 'human grade'. Some of it seems acceptable, others not so much. Wellness and Natura both have other sketchy pasts and practices, so I tend not to trust the ethics of either company, even though they both make comparitively excellent foods.

I googled a lot of terms like '(name of company) report' or '(name of company) suppliers' and '(name pf company) company policies' and that's where I get a lot of my info.

Unfortunately, there's only one supplier of Prairie here, and she only imports the large cans.
