Hey everybody. I'm looking for your favorite brand of food for your kittens. Ours are about 7 weeks old now. We just bought some cheap, dry food since we didn't plan on getting them in the first place. I want to get them something more nutrional that is better for them. Somebody I was talking to said that if you get better food, it will "fill them up better" so they eat less and go to the bathroom less. They seem to be pooping from 2-4 times a night each. Last night their litter box was full so they used the carpet a couple of times

We are also going to try to sticking to feeding them twice a day so hopefully they'll use the box before we go to bed so we can clean it out. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

We feed all our foster babies a mixture of Purina One and Iams for kittens.
They definitely prefer the Purina One, though! For wet food, they get Science Diet or Max Kitten twice daily. In the year that I've volunteered, all the kittens have thrived.

I used Nutro Kitten when Lola was a tiny baby. I also fed Wellness Kitten Formula for her canned food and mixed it with a little bit of KMR (you can get it at Petsmart). For extra protein (since she was quite thin when I got her), I've been known to occassionally mix cooked egg yolks into her food as well.

My kit loves Nutro Natrural complete care. Since she is still a kitten, she eats the kitten formula. I feed her 1 can of wet food split 2 times a day and free feed the dry. She loves both the wet and dry so much that when I come home from work, she yells at me to hurry up so she can get fed! I also tries Imas and she hated it. I would really recomend Nutro Natural Chioce.Good luck!

Madden eats Purina One kitten formula. He's EXTREMELY picky about his dry food, but he loves this!

I'm feeding my kittens Eukanoba (Eukenoba? How is it spelled?) kitten formula dry cat food. I also feed them Nutro wet food and Fancy Feast wet food in various flavors.

How old are they and how often do you feed them? Do they go to the bathroom a lot? I need to find something better for our kittens.

If I had a kitten right now I would probably feed it a combination of the Nutro Natural Choice Indoor Kitten and Nutro NC Kitten in pouches or cans. My adults kitties are on Nutro dry and pouches, and my dogs are on the Nutro dog food. They are all doing really well on it.

I fed my kittens Nutro Natural kitten food. They really like it, and I felt better knowing it's a good brand for them.

I feed my kitten Innova EVO (it's an all stages food). While people have varying opinions, I've had wonderful luck with the EVO and support the Natura line.

My kittens started off being fed outside, so they got what my coworker gave them, usually iams kitten, whiskas pouches, kitten chow and deli cat. When I got them they came with a bag of kitten chow, I gradually mixed that with nutro max cat kitten. Right now they are getting nutro max cat kitten dry mixed with nutro kitten dry. For wet they don't seem to be that picky (thank goodness) They have been eating mostly nutro max kitten in cans. They also ate authority in cans, eukanuba, friskies kitten. Interestingly, since being home they really don't seem to like iams canned kitten- which my cats also hated! I gave them regular friskies once or twice and it gave them wicked stinkie poo.
My older cats turn their nose up to anything in a pate- the only wet they really seem to like is friskies- anything with a chucks of meat in a gravy base. They will eat mostly anything pouched. They will sometimes eat the nutro pouches, but usually just the gravy is licked up. They only get 1/4 can each twice a day, so I try to make up for it by giving them quality dry food.

I leave the dry out all day, and I give them each a can of Fancy Feast, or let them split a can of Nutro (I buy the adult fomula cans, not the kitten ones). They eat a total of maybe a cup and a half of the dry every day. I'm not sure exactly how much of it they eat, because I just pour it from the bag into the bowl.

I don't know how much they use their boxes as compared to other cats, because I've never had to do litterbox duty before these two. I don't *need* to scoop every day, though (I have two boxes). I generally do, but it's a cleanliness thing, rather than an odor thing.

Edit: Bella is about 5 months old, and Rowan is a bit older than 4 months.

my favorite kitten food would be Eukanuba. ingredient wise it's not great, but i have seen SO many kittens do just great on it. my sister raised her 2 cats on it. and when i worked at the shelter (they only had purina kitten chow usually) the kittens who couldn't handle Kitten Chow did EXCELLENT on the Eukanuba usually (there were a few rare exceptions, in which case the kitten got Nutro Natural). the shelter was well enough funded that the odd cat/kitten who needed a different food, got that food.

Do you get Whiskas? or is it just a UK thing? Either way I feed Sleeves Whiskas Kitten Junior wet food and the dry food they make for kittens too. He has never once had diorrhea and goes once in the morning and once at night, like clockwork.
