How much do we depend on email?

Email has been down at my office for the past two days. Our tech guy is trying to determine the problem. It's driving me crazy not having access to email and made me realize how much I depend on it to communicate for work and for fun!

I really hate not having the internet/email--its how I keep in contact with my family during the days when I'm at work and can't be on the phone!

If my email went down right now, I would go nuts because I've been waiting for an important email since yesterday. Usually, though, I don't really care because I don't usually do important convos through email.

It's up and running again as of a few minutes ago. Now I'll have to spend the rest of the day getting caught up!

YEs, that IS a problem! We rely on it so much, that a couple of days without really stacks the inbox! I sometimes wonder how we managed before it!

Reasons I would die without my E-Mail

1. My Brother is in Afghanistan...
2. I live in the middle of nowhere and have no long distance (by choice & budget)
3. I have to contact my teachers and never know when they are in class to call.

Yep I definately depend on it for more than just fun (but that's nice too)

I live thousands of miles away from my family and a lot of friends - I'd hate to go back to pre-email days.

Living abroad too, I rely on it for everything. I just came back from a trip where I had no email for five days and I was freaking out!

I love e-mail. I know I'm addicted and here is why. I ordered a new computer last week and I checked the status of my order at Gateway. It said "shipped". My reaction was "so where is the e-mail. My item has been shipped and your website said shipped as of 1:50 am this morning". Then, I did get an e-mail at 10:00 am the same morning with package tracking information. So, I tried to track the package. My reaction was "Come on FedEx......they gave the shipment to you. Now pick it up and enter your information so I can wait on my front porch!!"

Do I sound reliant on e-mail?

I can't imagine how I'd get work done if I couldn't use email. I'd basically have to be on the phone all day, and since I feel like I'm already on the phone all day, productivity would def. be way down!
