Hi Everyone..My name is Kathy and I'm the proud owner of Patty.
Patty was originally the cat at my job. I bought her home September 22,2005. I love her soooo very much...she's my little baby..well, shes not so little..
Before she came home, she had disappeared from work for a few days around a week before I bought her. I'm new to owning a cat but have been trying to do the best for her by giving her good food and lots, lots of love
Anyhow..I took her to get her first shots ever this past weekend. Oh, by the way-I didn't think she was pregnant before this. At the vet visit the vet suggested she might be pregnant due to her big belly or she might have worms..she seemed healthy overall he said. I had posted in the health section concerning the vet visit. Needless to say, he wasn't the best b/c he vaccinated her even though she might be pregnant. I was so worried but I called him afterwards and he said its ok b/c the vaccines were dead. She also received a de-wormer..which he said was ok.. I hope that's true..and Patty has been ok. I'm almost positive now that she is pregnant by observing her and noticing her rounded belly. I also think I felt movement when I had my hand there yesterday. In preparation, I have set up 2 nesting areas in my apartment in places she can have some quiet-1 is underneath an end table in a corner of my living room and another is in one of my bedroom closets. She seems to really like to spend time in this big cage we recently acquired and placed in our living room in anticipation of the puppy we will be bringing home approximately a month from now. I guess my main reason for posting was to get any more input/advice/suggestions. I love this cat so very much-oh by the way, she's around 2. I want her to be happy & healthy. I def intend to spay her once the kittens are of age. I'm not 100% about the pregnancy but feel 90% sure she is. I've also begun feeding her Eukanuba kitten food and mix it in with her regular food. Also, according to my calculations she "should" be giving birth around thanksgiving..as early as next week but no later than the end of the month..Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Have a Great Day/Night!

Here's a pic of her-taken today of her napping in the cage

How nice of you to save her. That seems strange to me, too, for the vet to give her vaccinations if she could be pregnant. I also think you will really have your hands full to get a puppy when (if?) she has a newborn litter of kittens. They will definitely have to stay separate!

yea I agree its bad timing..Unfortunately I can't do anything about the puppy since it was my boyfriend's idea and we're kind of "stuck" with it..Don't get me wrong I love dogs too
..just that I too, am kinda concerned about the impact it will have on Patty. As is, I know introducing a new pet is difficult I can only imagine when the older pet is pregnant. I will def keep the puppy separate from the cat and kittens and hopefully WWIII won't break out
..although it was suggested to me that maybe since the puppy will be around 1 and a half -2 months when he arrives..she might "accept it as her own" Do you guys think this might at all happen..Probably not..I just hope they can all get along

Hi there Katgrl, I just adopted a beautiful though very buff grey cat. I think she may be pregnant. My mom thinks shes just fat but her tummy is awefully hard to be fat. I too am pregnant. So thats kinda what i was going on. We have no idea how far she is but we will be taking her to the vet soon as her butt is very red and am concerned about that. We just lost a cat, it got out and some guy deliberately hit our cat. I say deliberately because i caught him swaying the car to the cat not away. Anyhow just wanted to say hi.

Her tummy may be hard if she has worms...best to have her seen by a vet on Monday to validate whether she is indeed pregnant.

Hi binks Congrats on your new cat
And also congrats on your pregnancy
Nice to meet you. LOve to see pics of your cat wink wink
Thanks fro the advice TNR1. I'm almost positive 95% sure she is pregnant now..her belly seems to be getting bigger as time progresses and she is eating more and sleeping more. Shes very affectionate and sometimes get annoyed if we try and inspect her tummy..lol
I had called a few vets and asked and they quoted me their prices. They told me they could do an exam and if necesary either bloodwork or ultrasound since they might not be able to tell from the exam alone. I was debating bringing her in, but then figured if she is pregnant I don't want to cause her more discomfort and if she is according to my calculations she should be due in around 2 weeks. After that if I see nothing then I will for sure know something is wrong. Also, was thinking of just taking a stool sample into a vet so I can rule out worms. I've set up 2 nesting areas although she seems to prefer spending most of her time inside the big cage in the livingroom which has a blanket in it

Make sure the nesting locations are in places that there isn't much traffic....also (and this is very important) make sure she has no opportunity to get outdoors even accidentally.

thanks for the advice TNR1. I put one nesting location underneath an endtable in a corner of the living room and another in my bedroom closet. Do you think its likely she'll give birth in the cage though? Its in the middle of my livingroom so people do pass by it often. She seems to spend most of her time in it though.
Here's another pic of her

we loved teeka too. she died yrs ago but was a wonderful cat. she was odd when she had kittens though. Shed try to have them in your lap. litterally. And we adored ralph. i cant believe the nerve of the kid who deliberatley hit him. thats so mean. its not like he was prancing around in the middle of the road or was bothering him...he was just hunting in the hay grass on the side of the road to see if he could find a mouse. i mean im glad i got the kids make and model of the car well as the liscence plate, but he killed my cat. for fun. it makes me sick. never got a chance to get him. the guy couldnt see me coming to get him? thats why i totally agree with everyone who says to keep your cat in a house. even if your cat knows instinctively not to go near the rd you never know what can happen. ill miss that cat so much.

awww.....Its so horrible when people purposely hurt animals. They are living beings and have feelings like we do. Plus, animals can truly do some amazing things when you shower them with love and affection. Best of Luck with ur cats. May the one that died R.I.P. Take Care

well according to my calculations she should be due around November 20th. I intend on allowing her to have her kittens and def spay her as soon as the kittens are old enough. It wasn't my intention for her to become pregnant but she had disappeared from my job a week before I decided to bring her home. I just hope everything goes ok and the kittens are healthy. I have been actively looking for good homes for the kittens-homes that will love them, take them to the vet, keep them indoors and def spay/neuter them when the time is right. I might even keep one myself. Who knows..if I don't find enough good homes from my circle of friends and family I will most def be willing to adopt them out to anyone here that could come by and pick them up..Take Care

Stephen, if someone finds that a cat is pregnant and they are willing to keep the cat through it's pregnancy and have it spayed once the kittens are weaned as well as find the kittens good homes then we have no business to tell them to have the cat spayed. Obviously spaying a pregnant cat is an option...but some people have very strong feelings against spaying when a cat is pregnant.

Make sure that you charge an adoption fee if you adopt to individuals who are not family members.
