I have a horrible cold-sneezing, couching, stuffy nose, sore throat-you name it, I've got it!

It doesn't help that I sit next to the door at work all day, so the cold air gets right to me everyday, all day...

Does anyone have any great cold remedies? I've been taking cold meds, but nothing works
Sometimes home remedies do better than meds!

zicam-- the nasal spray-- it works well for shortening your cold. Its a homeopathic med that is sold in an orange and white box at most stores now-- wally world and drug stores alike. they have other products in the zicam line but i havent used any except the nasal spray

Hot chamomile tea, hot as you can stand it, sweetened with a spoonful of honey. Or a mug of steaming hot chicken broth. Ricola throat lozenges for the cough and sore throat.

Hope you feel better soon!

You can pick up stuff called Emergen-C at a health food store (some grocery stores carry it too). It's a packet of powdered vitamins (mostly Vitamin C and electrolytes) that you mix with water and drink. It's fizzy so it hits your system really fast. It always makes me feel better when I have a cold. It doesn't help with the stuffy nose, but it helps with the symptoms caused by dehydration, like the muscle aches.

At the kitty's beck and call
A nice hot drink of honey and lemon in water - it's soothing for a sore throat and honey is a natural antiseptic. It always makes me feel much better when I have a cold

Hope you feel better soon

I recently heard of these little discs or something you put on the floor of your bathtub and take a shower. The heat and water are supposed to make a nice vapor/steam you inhale, and it says it's supposed to help a cold. I was going to get them next time I'm sick...let me know if you try it!

The old steam trick works great for the stuffyness! Do you have a humidifier or vaporizer?

No, I dont

I feel even worse than I did yesterday! I went home last night and did 5 loads of laundry, dishes, cleaned and cooked supper so John could eat when he got home from work, and then I finally layed down, took some cold meds, couldnt sleep so I took a Tylonel PM and knocked me out (finally slept til my alarm went off!) But I'm really stuffy today, I'm just keeping taking my cold meds til I can get to WalGreens tonight-I just want to go home and cuddle with Harley! I had chicken noodle soup last night tho, and that made me feel better for awhile!

I'm going to have to go and get some of those discs that you put in the shower, I've seen those b4, but I have forgotten about them!

Walgreens has a vicks vaporizer for 20 bucks!!!!!!!!! It is very simple to use and ther is even a little place in the front where the steam comes out, to put liquid medicine (like liquid vapor rub) so you get the full effect!!!! It works great either way though! If you cannot run out and buy the thing, run the HOT water in the bathroom, close the door and do 15 minute "steam" sessions or boil some water on the stove. I see you are in minnesota so I am sure you have the heat on up there, every year when we kick the heat on here, I get like you!!!! It is because the heat zaps all the humidity out of the air and our sinus cavities dry out, which makes them more succeptable to mold, allergens etc.... that go up there. This triggers an immune response usually it is just a cold, but if you are unlucky like me you get a sinus infection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So watch out!!!! Have you been to the doc yet??????

Nope, no doctor yet-I get sick so easily-I hate it!!

Just a few months ago I got it really bad and I had to go to the dr cuz I had a sinus infection and problems breathing-it was not fun

SO-I'm hoping that it doesn't get that bad again, cuz that was horrible!
I might have to go and get a humidifier-I have to do something! I dont want to get as sick as I did b4 anyways.

just checking
that can REALLY irratate the sinuses. Are you around smoke at work???? Work can be the worst place to be when you have a cold! Not only does it make you feel worse, but the air is often WAY drier than our air at home even with the heat on. And you encounter more irratants (sp) like smoke, dust, cold air etc... Can you take a couple days off to recoup??? Do you have tommorow off for vets day?? How about the weekend? You really need to get deep sleep!!!!

I wish we had tomorrow off-but Nope!

Yeah-my work is horrible for getting sick-working around cars (body shop) all day (I'm in the office, but still) there is so much dust and dirt around here, it makes it worse!!
I don't have any weekend plans-I plan on sleeping ALL WEEKEND!!
