I'm so excited! My best friend e-mailed me to tell me we're hanging out tomorrow and tonight, because she won tix to see NIN and QOTSA!!! You have no idea how big this is for me because I tried to get tix and they sold out immediately and were big bucks! Sometimes it's a good thing to work at a big law firm!!!

And a BIG thanks to Zoe'n' Miss Kitty for telling me about QOTSA's visit to the HMV on Yonge St., where I'll get to see my man Josh Homme!

Sorry, Susan.
Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age. They're both alternative bands. NIN is legendary, just ask Heidi.

Thanks! I've never seen NIN, but have always wanted to. The problem is that the tickets are always sold out by the time I get around to buying them, or in the case of Lollapalooza 91, I was too poor to go. But with openers QOTSA... even better! I'm in LOVE with frontman Josh Homme.

Jen, you'll have such a great time! I've seen NIN 4 times now (considering how hard tickets are to get, I think that's pretty good!) - 1994 Downward Spiral, 1997 Nails-Bowie, this spring on the warm-up tour, and in October on this tour.

If you're on the floor, wear your moshing shoes.
The pit is vicious at any NIN show.

This tour is like a Greatest Hits with a lot of stuff from the new album. My biggest complaint was that the majority of the kiddies at the show didn't know anything except Closer from Downward Spiral and Head Like A Hole from Pretty Hate Machine.
The pit even got pretty calm during Wish! I was shocked - hello he won a Grammy for that song?! And they looked like this
during The Becoming.

He's got a really cool visual set around the middle of the show. Part of it (the first part) he did for the Nails-Bowie tour. The rest is new. It's cool if a little too in-your-face politically. (I personally don't really like to mix my politics and music...) But it's cool. When he first did the visual thing he said he wanted his audience to know how it feels to be autistic - to be their senses bombarded with stimuli - and it sure seems like he's going back to that concept. It did get a little long, though, IMO.

I wouldn't say this is the best tour I've seen of NIN, but it was good. It's always good. It's Trent, after all!

you are so lucky! My fiancee just went to see them last week (there was an extra ticket for me but I had a class I couldn't get out of...
) Anyway, he said the show was awesome. Tell us about it when you're back.

Thanks everyone! I'll be sure to let you all know how it was!

Heidi, did QOTSA open for NIN where you are? I just think the combo couldn't be better, IMO.

Yes, I wanted to see the Bowie/NIN tour but again, wasn't able to get tickets, so I'm VERY excited.

As for the music, I've listened to much of it over the years, but I must admit, Pretty Hate Machine is what I'm still most familiar with, and prefer over his other stuff.

Actually, I like what he did with Bowie for the Lost Highway soundtrack. Brilliant.

Yup, they opened for NIN.
But I can't really tell ya what they played or how they sounded because that was the first time I'd heard them
so I have nothing to compare it to. Just be prepared for a 1/2 empty auditorium - that seems to hold true no matter who Trent is playing with. For some reason there are a lot of NIN fans are pretty snooty about other bands.
Which is really too bad because Trent always has cool and interesting supporting acts!

Doesn't surprise me at all.
And it's too bad because you're right, they are missing out on some great supporting acts.

I saw NIN perform live in the very first Lalapalooza series concerts way back in the early 1990's!! He was awesome then and I'll bet that he's just as awesome now.

Yep, would have loved to have gone to that show. Siouxsie played that show too! But I was very poor at the time, basically couch surfing from friend to friend, and could barely afford ramen noodles.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to my very first NIN show!
I saw QOTSA already 2 years ago, and am looking to yet another show of Josh swinging those sexy hips.
