Awww Cindy, I knew things were tough right now, but I didn't know they were as tough as that - I'm so sorry. We are here for you whenever you want to talk. I'm so proud of you for taking that step and seeking help, that is the hardest thing to do. I'm sending so many positive thoughts that the days will only look sunny from now on

Hey guys, am actually doing pretty well today for a change, lol! Don't get to go to therapy until next Thursday, was the earliest appt I could get. Am both anxious and looking forward to it. Hub told me that when I started talking to him that I had to tell him everything, no matter how deep, dark or bad it sounded, no matter how badly it would hurt anyone else, even if it was hostilities towards him, I had to get it out or it was going to destroy me. Thanks so much for being here for me guys......I love you all!

Hi Cindy,
You are NOT alone. I`ve gone for counseling when I started experiencing depressin several years ago. It helped soooo much. You may be nervous now, and it will be hard work to "deal with whatever your issues are"....but it is really so worth it.
I truly thought, at the time it started for me, that I was going crazy when i started getting some memories from my childhood that I`d repressed for so many years. I was so depressed that anything I had to do, other than sleep, was a HUGE deal...even things that seem like they should be simple.
I understand too how you feel about being the kind of person who is always doing for others....but you need to NOT let yourself feel guilty about taking this time for yourself. YOU ARE IMPORTANT TOO YOU KNOW!
This will be a time of discovery for many things about yourself...and about those who`s lives surround you. You will indeed find out who your "true friends" are...they will be there for you as you go through this.
I`m wishing you all the best Cindy, and I`m proud of you for making this decision to go for therapy. That takes COURAGE!!!
Linda

Hello, Cindy -- I just found this thread, and I want to add my good wishes to those of all your many friends. My own history of chronic depression goes back to age six, although I wasn't diagnosed until I was 26. I've used a dozen different antidepressants, and most of them have helped a bit.

Right now, I'm on Celexa, which is the most effective thing I've ever taken, and which (for me) has virtually no side-effects. The best thing about it is that, unlike Prozac, it has not changed my personality -- I still have emotions! They just don't crush me the way they used to.

However, I've recently come to understand that my primary problem isn't really depression -- it's ANXIETY. There's a newer, much more expensive drug called Buspar that my doctor wants me to try because it's more effective against anxiety, but I have no insurance and just can't afford it. (I mention this in case anxiety is behind your problems, too.)

I'm glad you're seeing a specialist. I've had GPs who knew less about depression and anxiety than I do... it's a very complex field that really requires dedicated study. So you're on the right track now!

I know how hard it can be, though, to keep moving forward when you're dealing with this kind of thing. You have a lot of good people here who are reaching out to you and cheering you on -- and you mustn't let the depression cut you off from that. Grab those reaching hands and hang on for dear life!

If you ever want to talk, I'd love to join the crew who are here for you. Please email me anytime...

Carol

Guys, you know, you never cease to amaze me...even as long as I've been here, and been a part of the love and support that is part of this forum, it's still a beautiful thing. I'm here about an hour earlier than I expected (a good thing, lol).....not too low this evening, just totally, thouroughly exhausted. Thanks again my dear friends, so very much!

Cindy, I can totally empathize with you. I've been through it. In fact, I'm amazed at how many of us here have! I took myself off of Prozac at the beginning of summer. whew, what a ride! I tell ya what, there are somedays I really need it and spend my day in bed crying. But then again, I feel sooo much better now that I don't have all the side effects. If you ever need an ear, I'm listening. Just remember, we are ALL here for you when you need us. Take care!!!!
