Basically, a college offers undergraduate degrees (Bachelor of Arts/Science), whereas a university offers undergraduate and graduate degrees, e.g. doctorates. We generally say "She's going to college..." regardless of whether it's a college or a university. There are some deviations. I graduated from a university, but my diploma says "SJU - The College", because the "college" referred to full-time day studies, and not the part-time night courses (which also led to degrees). Colleges often specialize, for example, in nursing, teaching, or agriculture.

Wow... I am glad to see so many of you made it through college. I guess it is only for some people. I would have finished my degree, but I ran out of money!

I finished my undergraduate degree in May, in Biomedical Science with a double minor in Genetics and Psychology. This is my first year as a Genetics graduate student pursuing my PhD! After that, who knows. I've thought about doing a double doctorate and getting a DVM with my PhD, but it depends on what type of research I end up doing.

I went, I hated it, I wasted a lot of time, and I'm still paying for it. It was just like high school only worse and more expensive.

Funny, I was just thinking yesterday that I wish I was independently weathly - I'd be a professional student! I have a BA in ethnic studies and would love to get one in cultural anthropology and sociology.

I have a MA in general history and also made a masters thesis on cultural history. I'm currently going through the "what will I become when I grow up" -phase. I hope I'll get a PhD eventually, motivation a bit low at the moment because of the crappy employment situation for historians.
