I'm very sad

I was just told tonight that the time off I was planning for December now "won't be possible"..I miss my family so much and I'm so far away from them. I have been looking forward to the visit home since the day I came up here. It may seem like a really dumb thing and I know I'm a grown woman but I want to get home to see my mom and dad.

I don't think it's dumb at all. I know you wanted to see them for Christmas. Is it going to be possible for you to see them another time soon?

I totally understand. My family all left for Disney Christmas Day and I spent the day crying

I had a chance to talk to Jeff and feel better. Aside from the time off thing there have been other problems and he says that he will support me no matter what it is I decide to do as far as another job is concerned. I feel very lucky to have such a supportive sweet man..so that makes me smile.

Why did they say that it wouldn't be possible? That doesn't seem very fair....everyone is entitled to annual leave - especially around Christmas!

You poor thing, it's very hard to miss your family and then think you're going to see them and then be told you're not.

Is this negotiable at all?

I'm very sorry to hear this Tracy. I'm sure everything will work out somehow for you and your family to be together around the holidays.

I'm sorry you won't be able to see your family in December. But at least you've got a great guy.

I understand somewhat how you're feeling. My boss decided that she was going to take the days off I asked for in Dec/ Jan. That's my birthday and well now I have to work. Bosses are pretty selfish if you ask me...ok some are not all. Some are very good to you, not apparently not yours or mine... sorry aren't going to get to see your family for the holidays.

I don't think it's dumb, I can't imagine living so far away. I'm sorry for you!

hi traci, hope you feel better soon, bless your heart! I can't imagine what that must feel like, i can only feel your pain, forgive me for i don't know your situation, and all the ins and outs, but is it possible for your folks to come to you? or could you take the next week off? just a thought! That's indeed very sad. Hopefully you'll be able to take that time off in the New Year to see them.

That's not dumb at all! It's very unfair of them to agree to something and then change their minds after you'd had the time to get excited by the idea. Any chance you can go in the new year?

I bet a man made that decision. They just don't get it sometimes. Sounds like you have a great man though so you can't have it all!1 Hope you get to go home and see your family soon.

Oh no...I would be feeling the same way-I would be devistated if I couldn't take time off during December to see my family.

At least you have a loving man to make you feel better
