My youngest cat was just spayed today and now sports a funny collar to keep her from licking her stitches. I feel bad but I had to laugh. The first thing she did was walk through the livingroom backwards. My mother cat stared at her horrified. The combination was priceless.

Then she gave up walking everywhere backwards and decided to play with her ball. She hit it then couldn't figure out where it went.

Poor kitty, but she sure is funny.

WOW, that's the first time I have heard of a vet putting an E collar on a cat after a spay. I bet she's going to be releived when it can come off!!

The vet gives the collar only if you have a cat intent on licking. The moment my cat got home she wanted to lick so we got a collar.

They have new collars out now that go around the cat's neck. It kind of looks like a neck brace. They're a little more comfortable for the cat but help prevent her from licking at the area.

I always felt sorry for any animal who had to have one of those collars on. I know they're to help the animal and everything, and I wouldn't deprive my cats if it came down to them having to wear one, but it just looks so uncomfortable!! I'm glad we as humans don't have these problems after surgery! No urges to lick my wounds here!!lol:laughing2
