Hello fellow kitty lovers! My name is Cathie and I just now joined this forum. I live in the mountains of Pennsylvania, and have two cats, Mama who is about 20 years old and is content to sleep, eat, and use her box; and a daughter of hers, Beeper, who is about 9 years old and is my indoor baby. She is so cute and gives my husband and I such wonderful, unconditional (well for a cat) love.
Unfortunately, recently we lost our other cat, Cleo and a semi-feral stray that we were taking care of, Chester - they were out one night and disappeared about three weeks ago. I still call to them and place kibble out during the day (you don't dare leave this out at night because of varmints). We have coyote in these parts, but they are worse this year for coming in close to human homes. We are sure this is what happened to Cleo and Chester. I will be posting pictures of her soon and a tribute to her memory for all to read. This is why now, Beeper is an indoor cat. She wasn't happy about it at first but is getting used to it. From now on, all my cats are going to be indoor cats. I'll post pictures of her as well (as soon as I learn HOW - I'm new to this internet stuff).
Now you can see why I chose chattycath as my nickname - Sorry if I've overstayed my welcome. Please write to me and let me know about my new friends and fellow feline lovers here. Thanks, and blessings to all.

Cathie

Welcome,

That is great that you have a cat that is 20 years old..that means that you are keeping good care of her which is always good to hear. We look forward to hearing your opinions on the forum.

Welcome Cathie! So glad you stopped in to say hello!
I am sorry that your other two cats are missing. The coyotes just seem to get braver and braver don't they?

Welcome to TCS, Cathie! Your post isn't chatty at all, just a great introduction!
Condolences on the loss of Cleo & Chester. We have coyotes around here, too, and we have to "mark territory" around the perimeters of our yard. I also use bright nightlights & play a radio outside, but the "marking territory" seems to work best. And guys love the excuse to pee in the great outdoors
and the coyotes get the message, and keep away. Sorry, that's an "unusual" handy hint, but it protects my hens and any stray cats that are visiting (my crew has to be in at night).
See ya in the forums! Susan
