My cat is about 2 years old (I don't know exact age as she was a stray) and I got her in Feb. She was using the litter box just fine until this summer. All of a sudden, I started finding a single piece of poop just about anywhere and everywhere in my house, about once or twice a week. She is healthy and I had her butt shaved, as suggested by the vet. We thought maybe some of it was getting caught in her fur and randomnly dropping around the house. However, this has not solved the issue.

She is my only pet and we keep her litter clean. This is really becoming a serious problem as I have 2 young children and I cannot keep tolerating poop all over my house. Please, any advice would be appreciated...

It is possible that something is upsetting her. When the problem started, anything new in the house? Did you change her food? Is her litterbox accessible to her 24/7?

The only thing I can figure out that happened was that one summer afternoon, we had some kids over for about an hour in my basement, and maybe she was not able to get to her litterbox for that short period of time (her box is in the basement). But other than that time, she has free access. I already tried putting another litterbox on a different floor, but it didn't help. We also did change her food at some point from Science Diet to I Ams, but I believe we switched it at least a month prior to this problem occurring.

I ahve the same problem.. its just a small section of the poop, right?

I think that after they use the litterbox, that maybe he wasn't quite finished and started running and another little peice just popped out. But my Gordito run around like a crazed fool after he uses the litterbox. andI think its him that flings the little section here and there.

Yes, it's just a small section of poop. Although sometimes it can be a bigger piece. What I don't understand is that she never did this before. What's causing it now? And how can I make it stop?

What about confining her to a room such as the bathroom with her litter, food and water for a week or so...........giving LOTS of lovin's.She may need to be retrained

If it were in front of the litter box, I would say she is accidently slinging it out in attempt to cover it up.
Good luck and I hope you can figure it out
has she been checked for worms?

Yes, she was checked for worms just last week, and she is fine. I don't think she would take too kindly to being confined to the bathroom, but I'll think about it...
