Ok, my 7 week old hand reared kitten has gotten the adoring quality of biting everything in site!! Don't even think about leaving a piece of skin uncovered as it becomes the next tasty treat!!

It really hurts when she climbs on the bed when you are sleeping and bites your nose!

Is this just a small kitten thing? Should I stop her or discipline her (I mean, like saying No or pushing her away)?

Experiences anyone?

Photo evidence - What a sook!!

She looks like a white version of my new foster baby!!! Very cute.

When mine kittens behaviour gets unruly I say "ouch!!!" and then put her down and refuse to play with her. If she follows me around and is too rough I give her a time out in her room with some toys and a snack and let her out again in 1/2 an hour or so. If she is calm then we play again!

Yes, it is absolutely necessary to stop her from biting and scratching in any manner or form!

Otherwise she will think this is acceptable behavior. And while it doesn't hurt much to have her bite or scratch you now, it will hurt a LOT when she gets bigger. By that time the bad habit will be established and you will have a much harder time un-doing it.

It might sound a bit cruel, but you can use a spray bottle of water and give them a squirt on the 'mist' setting and say NO, they soon get the idea of it not being such a great idea. As they learn it you will be able to just say no without using the spray and they will stop....hope that might help a little

I might try that - I tried to push her away and tap her on the bottom (very gently) to get her to stop - But that just got her more riled up!!!

But she doesn't have any cat companions so that may be the reason - But I can't introduce her to Diesel just yet because she isn't big enough to defend herself yet!!

Should I use a cloth or something to wrestle her with so she can bite and chew and play and then make sure she doesn't bite any skin afterwards? This way she knows she can only bite when the cloth is there??

I don't know if a kitten could distinguish between a piece of cloth and clothing someone was wearing she might think its fair game and continue to try and bite, maybe some kind of chew toys would help alleviate the situation

I have tried toys but she doesn't seem interested unless it is moving - And I think a mechanical type toy would scare her....Hmmm...I'll keep thinking.

My cats never played with any toys until I tried this one, they are little springs coated in plastic. My kitties (Jazz and Graycie + newest addition Mumbles) go crazy for them. You can probably find them at your local pet store.
