i.e they don't bite their food, they just swallow down their dry food - is this ok? I probably can't do anything about it, but one of the kittens vomited this morning, and there was whole dry food pellets in there...

They eat Nutro Choice Complete Care Kitten dry food.

How old are the kittens?
Maybe you need to moisten it up a bit with some warm water before you give it to them.

Depending on the age of the kitten, you should be starting them off first with wet food. Cats are gulpers and sometimes to prevent them from gulping and swallowing so much air, you can elevate their food dish. You also want to be careful that you are not overfeeding these babies, and that you are feeding several times a day.

It is normal for cats. This is exactly why the whole thing about dry food being good for their teeth is a myth. Cats really don't chew their kibbles.

the kittens are 10 weeks old and have been weaned for 6 weeks, they get both dry and wet food - the dry food is free fed, but this was true from the start so they will not overeat..

i guess I was just wondering if this was a common thing and if other cat owners see this, or if it was just my lot

i have found vomit 3 times so far (from a litter of 5 kittens), but their 'loo' habits are fine, the kibbles certainly seem to be coming out ok!

I will try elevating the food dishes for my adult cats, but the kittens are close enough to the ground right now..

thanks..

Cats in the wild tear and swallow flesh ... the natural choice kitten is bigger to try to get the cat to chew... at 10 weeks I think moistened is best if not just wet..
