Morning all!

I won't be on the computer much at work today as I am coaching a fellow staff member who has been on a leave of absense for 9 months. I may be able to catch up during my breaks an lunch. I have the nastiest headache today - I really just wanted to stay in bed an sleep until the headache is gone. Oh well - duty calls!

I hope everyone has a nice day.

thursdays are our busy day because my daughter has her only school, half days after lunch, but today is especially busy. I have to take her down and register her for school. I'm not happy about this on a number of levels. Besides my issues with public education as it exists today (and I won't get into it unless someone asks), the way the zones are divided, she is going to a school that is 2 zones away from the one we live in! She has to drive past one school to get to hers, and there are 2 others that are closer! At least this one got a good rating and is listed as "exemplary", the highest category. Maybe by next fall I'll be able to put her in private school somewhere (Montessori or maybe parochial since we are Catholic) but my objection to public education is philosophical (not religious) and has to do with the current method for educating a large number of children, and most private schools use the same method, so I'm not sure that's the best solution either. Anyway.

Jim showed me a copy of the paperwork last night, the first thing you file for a divorce. It's very generic. It basically says he is suing for divorce, he will continue to support Lauren financially, I want my maiden name back, and we will arrange to divide our assets and liabilities. I thought it was interesting that it specifically states, we will seek arbitration in any disputes before taking it to court. I guess they are trying to avoid clogging the courts.

Whoo-hoo! the week is almost over....gotta love that!

A typical thursday here.

Survivor!!!! the highlight of my day! I watched the repeat of the first one last night. Just to get geared up for tonight.

Sabra, did you end up making a chicken cheese casserole last night? I had a spicy chicken boca, and I didn't care for it. I will stick with the morningstar chic patties. No worries, I had to try it and see.

Dawn, is your ear back to normal yet!?!?

have a great day everyone!

It's cloudy here today, and I hope it clears up. The kids have been playing outside this week, and it's been nice. We're going to go buy some sand for the sand box (hopefully they'll leave it in there this time!) and get dog food, cat food, and litter at Target. I'm going to try to finish up the laundry I started on Tuesday. The way I'm going, I'll have to start all over right when I finish!

Colby, thanks for asking, my ear is the same. The kids and I will be back at the doctor tomorrow morning to see what she says. I'm sure it's just a time thing.

Tomorrow night I'm going out with my girlfriends. There's a little pizza place nearby where you can bring your own beer, so we go there and order pizza and have beer and just hang out. Very cheap and very fun.

Sunlion, I hope registering your daughter goes well. Amy is so excited about starting school in the fall. I have to keep showing her on the calendar when it is. She thinks it's soooooo far away. She will register next month, so that will be exciting for her. The other day we were driving past the school where she will be going, and she said "Look Mom, the school is open. Why don't you just go ahead and drop me off!" I laughed so hard at that one. She can barely wait!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Survivor is on tonight ...... can't wait!

Colby - I didn't have the macaronni or the soup and since I had all the other stuff for what I was making I just went ahead and made it. I'll be going to the store this weekend and I am going to buy the ingredients because I definitely want to make it (sound to yummy to resist).

Ahhh Thursday. I wish it were Friday. I have some work I have to get done today - darn it why do they have to give me work when I'm at work

Allison, hope all goes well. I'm sure the school will test your daughter and if she tests gifted & talented or excellerated learner they get to go to class sessions during the week where they are in a much smaller group. At least that's how they do it here in Houston and since we are both in Texas I'm pretty sure it would be very similar. You know what's funny, when I was a kid I really wanted to go to private school because I hated that our classes were so big. Since you are catholic will you be seeking an annullment from the church? I hope things go as smoothly as they can with all the divorce paperwork.

Dawn, I hope she stays that way and once she starts doesn't goe into "I don't wana go to school today mommmy!" She sounds just adorable!

Hope everyone else has a great day, mine should be pretty uneventful.

Not much going on here today... I'm just going to go to work after I try to get caught up on the laundry here at home. That's about the extent of it!

I'm glad Friday is just around the corner, as well as Saturday. We've decided we are FOR SURE going skiing, so I'm excited about that... the FIRST time this season! (What slackers we are.) I should probably drop my skis off to have them waxed today, like I keep intending to do, but never actually get around to.

Sabra,

We weren't married in the Catholic church. He's a Baptist (duh, Texas is like Baptist central) and, um, we were already pregnant and didn't feel like we had time to do the whole Pre-Cana thing. We were engaged and living together, and I'd been told I couldn't get pregnant, so we weren't taking precautions. We moved the date up and got married in Tahoe. The point of that whole exercise is, I don't know if I need an annullment because I don't know if the Church recognizes the marriage in the first place. I think it's not much of a big deal unless I decide to get married again, and I can't even imagine dating right now, so I'm not in a rush about it.

Daniala, hope you had a great workout!

Ady, I hope your headache goes away! I hate headaches. I used to get them 2 or 3 times a month, but (knock on wood) I haven't had a bad one in 2 months.

Allison, I will never understand how they decide who goes to what school. More often than not it ends up making no sense at all. At least it's exemplary.

Dawn, tomorrow night sounds like so much fun! I wish I had girlfriends here, but they are all in Indiana. I love to do stuff like that.

Tigger, I know that exact feeling! I struggle with it every saturday and sunday morning!

Sabra, what did you end up making? I'm always looking for good recipes!

Jin, So glad you're going skiing this weekend. You need the release of it. Hopefully your stress melts away...

Hi everyone!!!
One more day 'til Friday! I'm so excited.
Nothing much going on here. I'm at work just trying to keep from getting bored. I have math homework that I have to do, but I think that I am going to do that later sometime. Tomorrow it is suppossed to be near 60 degrees, so I can't wait!
Hope everyone has a good day and a good weekend.

Yes, I'm very lucky to have some great girlfriends. I don't know how I'd be sane without them. They all have children (well, one has a baby) and our kids play together all the time. We live next to each other so it's really convenient. Amy's best friend lives right across the street. She started school this year, and I think that's one reason Amy is so excited to go. I too hope she stays excited about it.

Well, we just got home from running errands. Gonna make some lunch and then go clean out the sandbox to get it ready for the new sand. I think there are fire ants living under there that I need to poison. They're nasty buggers. I also bought some fertilizer/weed killer at Home Depot. Every year at this time my yard breaks out in purple flowering weeds. They'd be really pretty if they were actually in the flower bed rather than the yard. Thankfully they're really easy to kill. So I'll get that on the lawn pretty soon. Here in a couple weeks it'll be time to mow again. Gotta get the lawn mower fixed before then...

Well, off to make lunch.

The kittens are having a blast playing with the snowflakes, they just can't seem to figure this white stuff out. I am working on my math, always endlessly, but I did find out that I am getting a high B so far in the class so that thrills me!

Dawn, there is some stuff called diachotomus earth crystals that is fairly inexpensive and deadly to fire ants, carpenter ants, fleas and such without doing much harm to kids and pets. I am glad you are feeling better, and that you have such a good support team near you.

Allison good luck in future dealings with your hubby soon to be ex. Just remember to take time out for you and your daughter and take long walks or relaxing baths, whatever works to help you unwind.

Gee Colby, maybe I should ask you how many hours till Survivor?
I too am looking forward to watching it tonight to see the people interact. I just wonder why no one appears to be fishing, or crabbing, or collecting shells for water and stuff? Maybe they are waiting for Island Room Service? Well, back to the homework. Everyone have a wonderful day!

Thanks Hissy! I'll check out Home Depot and see if I can find some of this. Fire ants are a never ending struggle here, and Amy's allergic to them, so I need to keep them out of the yard.

I woke up this morning at 5:30 and prepared a 'chicken in a pot' and its cooking in my crock pot right now. I followed the recipe but for one exception, I added potatoes, tomatoes, and instead of basil, put cilantro.

Usually, my classes start at 9:00 a.m. , but every tuesday and thursday for a month, I have to attend an Employment workshop from 8:00 until 11:00. They teach us how to prepare a resume, how to look for employment and such. Its helping but it used to be that I can get up at 7:30, get ready, have a bowl of cereal, then catch the bus at 8:05. Now, I have to get up at 6:00 a.m. to get ready because until I have my coffee, I am really slow. I am definetly not a morning person but I guess I should try and get used to it so that when I start a 8-5 employment, I can get up without a problem. I wish I had an automatic coffee maker. I can prepare it the night before and by the time I get up, I can drink it while I get ready.

I am very tired, even after having my coffee. I did go to bed early, but Rascal didn't want to sleep yet. For some reason he has started to be more affectionate with me. Every few minutes he would get up on me and start licking me and nudging my hands for my petting. I like it though. I have to work today at 7-11.

I bought a much needed walkman. I listen to music while on the bus and now while on the computer. I am listening to an 80's station. Billy Idol is on.

Things with the man that I thought was the one is not working. I consider him my friend. For one, he hasn't called me in more than a month. I am not bothered by it, just that I am getting lonely.

Have a great day! I am an unusual person as I love Mondays. I like Fridays, but since I don't have a car, I don't go anywhere. My kids come over and we play games and such, but I really like taking them out. Its supposed to snow tonight. I thought spring was coming. This past week the tempretures have gone up. Yesterday it went up to 59! But I know better than to put away my coat or put on shorts right now. The snow is not going away until mid-May.

I watched the basketball game. The Utah Jazz(my team)beat one of the best teams! The L.A. Lakers!!!!!! That's funny! 92-84. Now, If they can just beat Dallas, San Antonio, and Sacramento!

Finally, 5 minutes to visit the forums
One of our friends is here and he's holding Ron in his arms - I give it 5 minutes before he starts crying for me. I enjoy this attachment parenting thing, but it sure ain't easy...

Anyway, just hopped in to say hi. We're doing fine, though things around us are not too good. Looks like all hell broke loose with terror attacks everyday. My brother-in-law just phoned to tell us a bomb went off 100 yards from his house (that's less then a mile from where we live) - it's not on the news yet.

We've had a hectic week - my sister came down with diabetes. She's 19 and never had it before so she had no idea why she was feeling so bad and by the time my mom got to her she had nearly gone into a coma. She was in the ICU for 4 days but she's better now. Then hubby's brother had a heart attack 2 days ago and now he's in the ICU... so we've been juggling hospital visits on top of everything.

Ok, here he comes

must go

You stay safe as can be okay? Hold that peaceful wonderful baby for all he is worth and enjoy each moment with him. So glad to hear from you and so sorry to hear that the bombings are getting closer and closer to your home.

Anne, It's so good to hear that you are okay! I will also pray for you.

Now as far as the casserole I made last night is concerned - it's from a box! It's one of those Stove Top Oven Classics - chicken with pasta and cheddar and mozarella. I don't have time to cook from scratch during the week since by the time I get home I can't get dinner started until 6:30. On the weekends is when I have my fun cooking.

I really want to get some crock pot recipes so I can have really yummy stuff during the week too!

Great to see you! We've been kind of worried lately. I'm sorry to hear the terrorist attacks are getting so close to home. I'll be praying for your safety and the safety of your family. Sorry to hear about your sister and brother in law. When it rains, it pours sometimes. Please take care of yourself and stay safe.
