My mother passed away from breast cancer a little over 2 years ago. Even with all of the press, I still think it is one of those "It won't happen to me" issues. But it CAN happen to anyone.
Also, just as a reminder, be sure that all of the men in your life are informed about the disease and issues surrounding it. My father never took the time to learn about it before Mom was diagnosed and had to get a crash course. It affects men as much as women, albeit in a different way. Many times it is the men that have to be (a part of) the support system for the women who have it.
