I really really really don't like bugs....and I think we've had some.....roaches!!! move in!

We're going to bomb the house this weekend. But I was wondering if anyone here had any suggestions on what brand to use? Also does anyone know if the bombs kill the eggs too if they are there or will we have to bomb again in a few weeks or something?

Thanks ahead to anyone who knows something about killin these yuckies!

we have loblolly pine trees in our yard so we get those huge a$$ wood roaches. In the summer they are at their worst-- Since PB has matured a bit he is taking care of our roach problem but before we got him we used boric acid powder outside the doorways and perimeters of the house as well in cracks and crevices inside the house. We cant bomb our house and i wouldnt do it anyway because we have fish tanks. Aersol bombs of any kind will kill all inhabitants of any aquarium. We also have used the new Home Defense spray. it comes in a white/clear plastic canister with a spray nozzle attached to it with a tube, It works really really well. supposed to last up to 6 months and it did-- we just sprayed it inside and out ( approved for inside usage) along the edge of the house outside and on all in/out doorways as well as window bases. Also sprayed the perimeter of my fireplace with it. we still have some and i wouldnt hesitate to use it again but if i did use it again i would contain PB somewhere else so he wasnt exposed to it while its wet.

We do have an aquarium!!! The box on the ones we looked at tonight said to just turn them off and cover them. We looked at one that was a 'fog' kind too. I don't want to kill my fishies!!!

you would have to totally seal off the aquarium with duct tape and absolutely NO gaps in the plastic you put over the tank. I would HIGHLY suggest you dont bomb your house unless you remove your tank from the house. are your fish tropical, saltwater, or cold water? you could probably seal it up with some 2 mil plastic sheeting and duct tape really well but you would have to turn off the filters and all-- i would ONLY seal the tank if you have GOLDFISH as they can go for several days/weeks without oxygenation or heat. If you have tropicals or saltwater i wouldnt even attempt to bomb your house. It would be a fire hazard as you have keep the heater and filters running to keep the fish alive with the tank being sealed.

how big is your tank? and how is the weather where you are? is there anyway if its not freezing/snowing/icey where you are that you could take the tank outside on a porch or patio and plug it in? that way you could still bomb your house but keep your fish. glowfish-- is this the kind that have neon colors injected in them? if so they do much much better in groups that they can swim together as they are a schooling fish. I would get a few more (3 or 4) so that your glowfish has someone to interact with.

Good luck with the roach killing however you plan to do it.

Have you thought about using something that is not toxic to your pets? Harris Tablets are great for getting rid of roaches.

I've never heard of them (Harris Tablets). We just went to look at what the store had. And now we havn't seen any bugs either! It's supposed to be 70 something and nice tomorrow. The tank is a 10 gallon tank so we were thinking we might try taking them outside. The kitties will go to grammys while we do all this if it comes to bugging. We found a fogger that supposedly doesn't leave a sticky residue or have as horrible a smell.

I'm planning on getting Frankie some pals soon. The others died just a few weeks ago and I wanted to make sure the tank was ok before bringing in a new batch. He does look lonely to me though! Pierre isn't much company I don't think! Frankie is one of the orange fish in the corner. My tanks isn't this empty either, this was afte a cleaning before putting it back together.

You will all think this is probably weird, but im getting giant cave roaches for pets.
This is what they look like. Believe it or not they are easy to care for and make great pets.

I have had good luck with Roach Baits. We moved into a house that was infested, and those woked like a charm. They killed so many roaches, I had to vaccuum all my cabinets to get all the dead bugs out. They are not toxic unless they get broken open, which is not easy. I put them down now just as a precaution.

I would strongly advise against bombing your house. I'm not educated about fish, but I lost my owl, Solomon, from ignorance of using a bomb to eliminate fleas. Even if they are supposed to be safe to bring kitties back into the home, they still carry the potential of being toxic. It's just too scary for me. I recommend proceding with caution.

We've pretty much decided bombing will be a very last resort.

We could never knowlingly hurt our fishies! We just want to find something non-toxic for the cats sake and thiers. Like even if a poisoned bug should die somewhere they can get to and they get ahold of it before we find it. Mostly they have been on our countertops and under the fridge so hopefully that won't be a problem. And it's been 2 days since we saw one now...it's lilke they read my posts and figured they'd worn out thier welcome!
