What artist/musician would you be embarrassed to tell friends you like?

Anyway as far as I am concerned, lets see am embarrased to like a bit of numetal crap.
As such my staple diet is 80s thrash metal like slayer, exodus, forbidden, megadeth, Death Angel, Sadus, Kreator and stuff like that. Nothing to be embarrased, i like to be oldschool!!

Skating rink music!

I'm not ashamed to like any of the music I like. I think music is a lot like movies and books. Some entertains you for a few weeks, some resonates forever, some is light and sugary, some is deep and meaningful. All of that is fine.

There's nothing that I would be embarassed to tell my friends (if you knew me well, and knew my friends, you'd know we're all pretty tell-it-like it is and share details with each other that other folks would find very embarrassing)

But, I did totally
Debbie Gibson when I was about 8. She was the height of popularity in about 1987!

Looking at the other thread, I was reminded that I like Ashlee Simpson.
Probably the only person on this site that likes her

Hey I like her too! Jessica, too. I'm not ashamed to admit any of the music I listen to, I love it all! And I miss the 80's! LOL!

I like Jessica more though. I like her voice a lot. I like Ashlee's because her voice is SO different!

I pretty much wear my musical taste on my sleeve...I love (and this copied from the facebook profile I have) orchestral music, especially 20th century Russian music, opera, chamber works...my favorite composers are Bartok, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Mahler, Beethoven, Reich, Shoenberg, Glass, Ravel and Tchaikovsky.

The pop/rock music I like is: Ani DiFranco, Radiohead, Wilco, The Beatles, Ben Folds, Joni Mitchell, The Postal Service, Dave Matthews Band, Belle and Sebastian, The Shins, Bob Dylan, The Cure, The Smiths, Death Cab for Cutie, Sleater-Kinney, Le Tigre, Rilo Kiley, Interpol, Joanna Newsom, Aimee Mann, Bjork, the Arcade Fire, Cake, Counting Crows, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Liz Phair before she went all vapid popstar diva, Modest Mouse, Nellie McKay, Portishead, and the Smashing Pumpkins

Is any of that embarrassing?

I only listen to good music or, being fashionably ironic, music so retro-bad it has to be cool.

Really, I'm not too proud of some of my pre-teens loves. Now, nothing really. Green Day, perhaps (=punk sell-outs
)

Um...I still throw in my New Kids on the Block cd when I'm in a silly mood. It's something I know all the words to, and singing makes me feel good. Also, Milli Vanilli and Paula Abdul. Brings back memories! I also love 80's hair glam bands, (Winger, Skid Row, Firehouse, etc...) most of my friends hate them!

I love most of the 80s Hair Bands. Most of them were underrated as musicians, and the style and message (let's go have a good time!) was so different than before or after. They were fun, and that was the point. Can't take them too seriously.
