Someone please help!! How do I introduce my new kitten to my three yr old cat. Ever since I came home today the cat has ignored me and has been hiding under the beds. Finally I had my husband bring her out from the bed and try to get the two cats in the same room. The kitten was fine, but my cat starting hissing at the kittten & moaning as if she was going to attack her. This is my first time with 2 cats. Will this pass? Is it safe to go to sleep tonight or will I wake up to a mangled kitten? Should I separate them? They are both females. Not sure if that helps!

There is some good information here - check it out.

There is a lot of information already posted about how to introduce cats - just start surfing the threads and you'll probably find more than you ever wanted to know.

And yes, you do need to separate them and start over. Do not force the two cats together nor pull one cat from her hiding place to confront the other cat.

Put the new kittie in a room with food and water on one side of the room and litter on the other. I could go into a whole spiel on this but if you check out and read the above thread you should be able to get the info you want.

I don't have two kittens/cats, but I would say YES to seperate them and re-introduce them.Maybe keep kitten in a bathroom for a few days.Try using a towel for the kitten to lay on and then place it where the cat can smell it and get use to it's scent.
Good luck!!!
