Hello cats and kittens. My name is ken. Last year a very pretty feral cat came in our yard and had a litter of 6 kittens. Well I have never been a person to turn any animal away if they are there I feed them.

So for about 2 or 3 months I feed the kittens. They never came inside always said outside. They liked it had a place to get if it was wet or to hot.

When they were 4 months old I guess. The mamma cat wandered off and they went with her.

Well now she is back and she had 4 kittens I think in sept or so. When she was in the yard there eyes was open and we have been feeding and caring for them so far. The main reason they are in the house is cause I'am afriad they well get to cold at nite. They can get under the house but I'am still worried about it.

They come and go pretty good in the house. It's just they are really active and we are not that use to kittens. It's been a long time since we had a pet.

So I'am just wondering if anyone know's. Am I doing right in trying to let them sleep in the house at nite. They play outside all day. They even come in from time to time to use the litterbox.

We are planning on getting them fixed ASAP. Cause the mamma cat is pregnant again.

Any help would be appericate.

Thank you so much for taking care of mama and her babies. It's great that you are planning to get them fixed.
We have a great forum on TCS called that deals especially with Stray and Feral cats - there are people there who will have plenty of advice for you, they helped me enormously when Adelaide, our little feral found us last year. Feel free to drop by there and tell your story
you can find it by clicking The Catsite.com Forums at the top of the screen and then looking down the list of forums.

Welcome to TCS

how marvellous of you to be looking after this mama cat and her kittens. I personally say that yes its fine to let them outside during the day and inside at night, but alot of people here will disagree with me. My boys are inside/outside cats and like yours, come and go as they please (but ALWAYS inside at night)
Its wonderful that you will be taking them in to get fixed. Will you look after the new kittens as well?

as mentioned we have a great sections for all your questions - caring for strays, or the pregnancy forum for you to ask all the questions you have - often our experts only stay in those areas. Are you planning on keeping these kitties as they are now? or do you want to adopt them out?

glad you joined us - welcome again from me and my boys

Welcome Ken!

You are an angel to take care of the kittens and it's wonderful you'll have them fixed.
If only you could spay the mom too.

Because my cats are indoor/outdoor, I see no problem with the kittens roaming free in your house. But of course, it's all up to you.

Welcome Kenneth!

It is so good of you to take care of them.
Yes, I think it's a good idea to keep them in at night. I am not certain where you are located, but so many problems at night with wildlife - racoons, possums, coyotes, not to mention that if they are crossing a road, it is harder for a driver to see them at night.

Hope you continue to stay here and tell us about their progress

Welcome Ken! The very best thing you can do is get mom spayed, like you are planning ... that will help her a great deal! Bringing the babies indoors is also a wonderful idea, as it will help keep them safe from disease, predatory animals and other dangers! Keep up the good work, and thank you for helping these little creatures!

Hey Kenneth....it would be best to trap mom and her kittens now....if you go here:

http://www.alleycat.org/orgs.html

You can find feral cat groups in your state.

Also, if you go here:

http://www.lovethatcat.com/spayneuter.html

You can find a list of low cost spay/neuter clinics.
