This is kind of a wierd question, but I could think of no better place to (hopefully) get it answered!
My husband has a cold sore on his lip and tonight, our kitten came up to him right after he had got done putting on some lip cream and licked his lips!I am wondering if human cold sores are contagious to cats??? I am thinking they can't be passed from a different species, but I am not sure. Any help is wonderful! Thanks.

Cold sores in humans are caused by the herpes virus. URIs in cats are caused by a different strain of the herpes virus. They are not transferable between species.
