Hi Everyone!
My name is Joanne and I was so glad to find this site. Info has been helpful with all sorts of recent questions. I have been a single cat owner my whole life until 3 weeks ago. My husband and I adopted our current cat Midnight 5 years ago. He is a handsome black DLH with green eyes. His previous owners gave him up at 2 years old when he stopped using his litter box after being declawed on all four paws. We couldnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t believe someone would give up this sweet boy. He is gentle and loving and we never had a litter box problem. When he arrived home that first day, he walked around so confident and comfortable like he had been with us forever. He is very spoiled of course and now has the great life he deserves.

About 3 weeks ago, while we were out on a walk after dinner, this little kitten came out of the opening of a drain pipe. She decided to follow us home. She was hungry and shivering. We couldnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t leave her out in the cold, so in the garage she came until we could decide what to do. At least she was safe for the night. We did not know if we could her because of Midnight. He has been the one and only and we were not sure at age 7 if he would like a playmate. He is the king and I think he likes it that way. So the next morning I called the local humane society to see if they could take her to be adopted. They said they could take her but under 8 weeks the age they put them to sleep because they donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t have the staff to care for them around the clock. I was horrified and there was no way she was going anywhere now.

Off to the vet she went next day. Vet said she is about 4-6 weeks old. She is in perfect health and got her 1st vaccination. She is so adorable and is here to stay. We named her Ali B. and she is a tortie with golden eyes. We followed all the guidelines for the introduction of Midnight and things are going better than we ever imagined. He is very patient with her. He puts her in her place when he needs to with a big swat. Still have lots of questions about what is “playâ€. She likes to tackle him and bite and lick his fur. No growling though, just tumbling and chasing. I will keep reading and would appreciate any thoughts for this new “2 kitty†family.

Joanne

I'm new here as well. Sounds like you have a happy "2 kitty" family now! Be careful... once you have more than one ... it grows, and grows, and grows! LOL! I hope you will post pictures in the picture forum!

Thank you for offering these two kitties a home when they needed it most.

It sounds like they are getting along just fine. We had the same issue when we introduced Tolstoy to Lily. They love to chase, play, tumble around and play bite at each other. They can often be found grooming each other too.
It was a great concern to us in the early days and I too posted a thread in the Behaviour forum wondering what appropriate play behaviour was like.
