This is cool

I had no idea it would do this. On Photobucket you can check a photo (or photos) then go down to the bottom and click on "Generate HTML and IMG Code" and produce as one of the options clickable thumbnails. Learn something new everyday!

Saves handcoding .

I have to try that!

Watch it, It gets addictive . The great thing is the thumbnails run around 5kb give or take, even for an image that's over 100kb and 600x800px or better. Means it's easy to put up access to a pic with decent detail (and minimal jpg artifacts) and not tax the board.

OK, my turn to experiment...

Oh, now, that IS interesting! Generate code for several pics at a time, and copy/paste in one operation instead of however many -- and at the same time take up lots less space in a message, but still have the full sized pic available for viewing with a single click. I like that!

And a good alternative for people who don't like to resize. Or have the snake visit their posts.

Giving it a try!

You're using photobucket. Look immediately under each image, and you'll see a check box beside the file name. Select the images you want, then go to the bottom of the page, and you'll see three buttons: [Delete Selected][Move Selected][Generate HTML and IMG code]. Click on the third one, and it will produce a page of various code, clearly identified as to the use of each. One of them is "IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended". Highlight and copy all the code in that box - just as you would the single IMG code under each image, except that this is one copy operation, rather than however many images - and paste it into your post, exactly as usual. What you get is those clickable thumbnails. Neat, eh?

Oh, yeah, another thing -- this is not one huge chunk of unbreakable code -- you can insert whatever spacing and text you want between the coding for individual images, just as you would using the IMG tags.

Like this...

and here's the seond image...

Gotta try this..

What a great discovery! I'm using this from now on. Awesome!

My turn to have a play!

The only quibble I have about this being used a lot in fur pictures is that unless the image is really clear, I'm unable to properly view them - takes so long on my dial-up to enlarge all the thumbnails to have a better look!

Ooooooohh!

Okay, it's 2010 and the instructions on this thread don't seem to jive with what I see on the screen.

now what?

It's still an option on photobucket. You can also add it to your link options so that you get thumbnail code along with html, direct, and IMG.

Okay - will give it a shot
I see all the codes under the pics - and have used them, but haven't found the "thumbnail code" - will keep looking. Thanks for your interest. G

Below those codes there's a tiny link that says "Link Options". Clinking it will give you the option to add more types of links, remove ones you don't use, and set it to always there or to show on mouseover.
or you can click the checkmarks on each pic and click generate HTML at the bottom of the page and it takes you to a page with all of the options, if you don't want to view it every time you load the page
post #26 of 48
^My photobucket doesn't show the boxes next to the pictures that you can check, anymore. I figured theirs doesn't have it, either, and that could be causing confusion.
Ah HA!! found that little bugger - tricky, tricky - my photos didn't show the links until I ran the mouse over the picture - then I had to save the preferences to get the links to stay showing under the picture ... I love changes that websites make - but then, can't complain for the great stuff I get free
I'll try to do something with this tomorrow - I think my brain just quit -- I'll post here again if I have another issue with photobucket - thanks, again for your help!
I'm just experimenting because I have lots of problems inserting pictures at all.

Well! These certainly didn't come out as thumbnails. I did the IMG code, which is what I thought I was supposed to do. Hmmm. Since I am very UNtechnical, and since things have changed since 2005 when these were written, can someone write out the new instructions for those of us who are challenged? Thanks!!!!!
No the image code is the regular code, you need to check the box for the picture, scroll to the bottom and click 'generate HTML and IMG code' and choose the thumbnail option IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended

OR

mouse over a picture and instead of clicking on the checkbox or a code line, choose link options and check Clickable thumbnail under IMG for bulletin boards & forums

and that code will show each time
