Last night while preparing supper I needed corn flake crumbs. I couldn't find them at the grocery store so I just bought a box and crushed them myself. When I poured them in the bowl a dead cinch bug came with the flakes!!
Good thing I'm not easily grossed out but........eewwwwwwww
I called Kelloggs right away but the CSR's were all in "training session"
Well as soon as I get off the computer I'm calling them.
I know that food standard actually allow at certain percentage of foreign matter in our foods but again eeewwwww.
I also remember when Rosiemac found something "interesting" in one of her food items also..
I keep you all posted on what they tell me!!

I remember my ex-father in law found a HUGE bug in a can of veggies one time... I woulda had a fit! Then about 6 months ago I opened a can of fruit cocktail and it was black and slimy
. I called the company and all they did was send me coupons for free cans

Movin' on up!
Some time back, I opened a new box of grits and found more little black bugs, than grits. No more grits, from the 99-cent store!

Eeeeek!!!!. Yes thats right Gail, i had a wood louse beetle in my pack of roast beef
They may want to see it to make their investigations like mine did and sent me a small plastic container to put it in so keep hold of it.

Not that it's going to go anywhere?!

I received a £15.00 voucher from the supermarket along with the money i paid for the beef.

I still check every slice of meat since that day

I would also, if you feel like it, call the store where you bought them and let them know it might be where it came from. Is the store clean? If not I would'nt go back

Yep, that happens sometimes. I had bugs this week in a package of dried blackeyed peas.

One time my mom got some corn from the farmer's market that still had the green leaves on it, and I was helping her pull them off when I saw a worm...I haven't eaten corn since then. I also saw a little white spider on some cauliflower once...can't eat cauliflower anymore. I guess it's to be expected on produce, but if I saw something in a package, I would probably lose my mind. BLECH!!!

My roommate told me his sister got a drink from some fast-food restaurant and ice kept getting stuck to her straw so she couldn't drink, so she opened it and found a huge cockroach--she had been sucking on a cockroach! BLRGH!

I just can't stomach things like that. Eating bugs is one thing--I would do it for 50k on Fear Factor--but I think it's more the element of surprise that's more disgusting than the actual bug. You trust that there won't be a bug in your food!

That's like the old joke:

Q: What's worse than finding a worm in your apple?

A: Finding a half a worm.

I once found a dead beetle in a salad from Wendy's. Got a bunch of coupons when I wrote a complaint letter.

Actually that's no big deal. That's a little b*gger called a "corn earworm", which is the caterpillar of a certain moth. They are EXTREMELY hard to keep away from corn (at least in my experience) without using some either very expensive organic solutions or some nasty pesticides. However they usually limit their depredations to the end of the ears. Just cut the ends off
.

Well... I dont have a bug in food story... but I have an object in food story.

I opened up a container of Jelly ( in a blue tub, white lid, with a long white handle attached to each side), and in it I found the rubber tip of a finger from a yellow kitchen glove. I called the company.. who sent me an entire case of the jelly. LOL

Yup, I'd rather pull those off corn than eat the pesticide necessary to kill them. They won't hurt you.

My worst "foreign objects in packaged food" have been : a fingernail in a tub of yogurt; a glob of hair inside a hotdog; and a spider in a can of Coke. The fingernail was the grossest, it made me literally "hack", the hot dog was the most embarrassing - I took a bite of the hot dog & was surprised when the bite popped out & was dangling from the hotdog still inside the bun - my brother & his friends couldn't stop laughing. The spider wasn't too bad, but it made me think about what's inside Coke that could pickle a spider like that.

When I was a little kid I would always eat this gummy bear oatmeal for breakfast. Well one day I cooked the oatmeal, and I took it out of the microwave and it was steaming hot, so I let it cool off. Suddenly LIVE mealworms started crawling out of the oatmeal, at least 5 of them, even after being cooked in hot milk! I threw out the oatmeal and never brought that brand again. To this day I still eat oatmeal, and im not afraid of bugs.

My best friends sister found a maggot in one of those little boxes of sunmaid raisins. She dosen't eat them anymore, but I still do. Admittedly, I never eat them without looking at what I'm eating though. LOL
