Basicly ive had it 3 time today the this one cat we have has pooped in my room all along one wall. This room was used to breed cats by the last owner and its only in my room the litter box is no where near my room. the cat only comes in my room to poop and pee. Is there something i can spray to make this room off limets to him (by the way hes not nudered yet)? if not will getting him fixed stop this problem?

Well, first thing is definitely to get him neutered. If the previous owner used the room to breed cats, it is only natural that a tomcat wants to mark his territory in there. To him the room smells like female cat hormones, even though you cannot smell them.

Additionally, you can just put a litterbox in your room. I know it may not be something you particularly want but it's a lot better than pee and poop on the floor.

Finally, keeping the door closed will keep him out and keep him from using the floor as a litterbox.

But to really have a chance of curing the problem, he needs to be neutered. Until that happens, you can really only do band-aid solutions.

Call the humane society in your area as they may have low cost neuter options. It only cost me $20 to neuter my cat.

Gorren, this cat is continually defecating in your room because no matter what you do, that's where it has formed it's habit now, and that's where it smells its own scent. Even though you may not be able to smell it after you've cleaned it, this kitty can.

You can buy a product that will eliminate the odour to your nose AND the kitty's, and then I suggest that you put a litter tray in your room. This does not have to be permanent, but this cat is going to continue to use your room as a toilet because it has got into this habit, and cats are creatures of habit and they will stick to something once they're happy with it.

You need to retrain this kitty to go in a litter tray, to start with, and that is going to have to be in your room. As time goes by, you start moving the tray nearer and nearer to the door, as long as the cat keep using it. Eventually (and it won't take that long) you will be able to move the tray out of the room entirely and the cat will have formed a NEW habit - which is going in the tray and not your room.

You need to get the cat neutered, very soon, because if you don't having it pee and poop in your room is going to be the least of your concerns.

Does he have a litter tray that he can use anyway? If so, put it in your room. Get some Feliway spray and spray it on the areas where he used to poop after you have cleaned them with a proper cleaner. Feliway diffusers help calm cats, Feliway sprays keep them away from things they're not supposed to be on. Put a tray in your room and keep it clean.

If you do these things your problem will end - but remember cats dislike change so it will take a couple of months. It will be worth it in the end, though.

Good luck!

I agree that you need a product that breaks up the enzymes that the cat detects and aren't broken up by regular cleaners. Two products I can think of are Nature's Miracle (mixed reviews) and Zero Odor (good reviews). As long as those enzymes are there the cat can smell them and want to refresh its scent. Feliway does the opposite by making the cat think its scent is already there therefore dosen't need to refresh the mark, I'm not convinced it will cure the behavior if you run out though, but is used to retrain away from teh behavior. I don't have enough experience to really say with that product though...

I can`t hardly believe some of the costs for nutering in other places! We paid $45 for each of our cats here in MI....which is a common amount I do believe. It`s such a simple surgery for a boy kitty (Contrare to what most MEN might think) I am astounded to think it would cost $250 per cat in NY ! WOW! That is staggering!
