Hi, I am ShelterKitty and new to the site and this is my first post. I just picked up one of my kitties (Simba) from the vet today following a surgery (FHO) for a second broken hip. The first surgery on the other hip was done 2 weeks ago...the second hip broke a few days ago. Litter Mate (Billy Ray) also has 2 broken hips - diagnosed about 3 weeks ago (he has to lose weight before operation). These hips broke for no apparent reason! They are both indoor kitties and are about 1 and 1/2 yrs old. There are 3 more littermates at home (and the mother). I had fostered the mother and the 5 kittens (for the local shelter) and ended up keeping them all....(long story). I just read on this website (old post) about Osteogenesis and am wondering if it could be that. Any suggestions on what else it might be or more info on Osteogenesis would be greatly appreciated!. this had some info.... basically it is likely a genetic issue that caused brittle bones ... I know in humans it is rare and very hard to treat..
