Hi everyone!!

Just wondering if I can get some advice/suggestions or see if this has happened to anyone else and what you did.

I moved into a new apartment with my cat and a few new roomates. He has taken a liking to one of my roomates and now sleeps with her most of the time!! I am a little sad and jealous.
Is there any way I can win him back? He sleeps with her at night and on her bed during the day. He will sleep with me some of the times, but mainly with her. I'm not sure if it is because I go away on business a lot and am not home or what?

Please help!!

Thanks!!

Hi Matt and welcome to this wonderful place. Ithink you nailed it on the head when you said you are gone a lot. Is your kitty young - if so, he's probably re-bonding with her. In a good sense, I think it's great that he has affection and warmth when you are gone - think of how awful it would be if he was cold and lonely.
It will be interesting to see what the others have to say.

Thanks so much for your reply! He is actually 9 years old, I don't know if that makes any difference or not...

It might also be good because many times when a cat's owner leaves they can get very loud. When you are home maybe start feeding you cat in your bedroom or reserve special treats that only you give him. This way it might give him something to look forward to and associate that with you coming home. Also when I would have to leave for some time I would leave out some dirty clothes on my bed for the cat to sleep on. They love the scent of you to remember when you are not around.

The good thing is that he is not mourning when you leave.
