Does anyone have any ingenious method of minimizing static shock when petting our kitties in the winter month? (ok, other than using a humidifier in every single room of the house). Anything in their diet that can make their coat not so dry?
Thanks!

Ooh, yeah, snappy sugars! Everytime there's a cold front, it seems like my cats go around with their ears permanently pressed against their heads, lest we shock them when we go to give them sugars!

I've been using this shampoo called Septiderm-V, an antibacterial and other stuff shampoo for my kitty's rash. It also says it helps with static. Info at www.naturvet.com and click on the Green Trea product link.

I just make sure I zap my husband first, so I'm not as electric when I pet the kitties.

I was talking to my husband on the phone the other day, him at work and me at home. All of a sudden he said, "You're petting a cat, aren't you?". And I was ! He could hear the snaps of static on the phone line...

Wow! Thanks for the dryer sheet tips! I will definitely try that. Maybe then both my cats will smell like Mountain Spring, and that could make them like each other better!?

What a great idea! I think that my kitties are steering clear of me when I try to pet them because I always shock them. I'm definitely going to use a bounce sheet as soon as I get home after work.

Luckily we don't really have to worry too much about them in England - the air is much damper - I only get them very occasionally, but don't think I've ever passed one onto the cats

I remember when we went to Canada in Decemeber though - I was amazed at how bad the shocks were - I even gave up holding hands with my fiance coz they were getting so bad!

We moan about the weather over here, but I guess it's not all bad
