I am going to have a serious talk with my vet tomorrow. However, I wanted to hear your guys' thoughts and oppinions on possible food I could be feeding my cat.

Napolean has been having severe allergy issues. When I adopted him, he was being fed Science Diet kitten, things were going fine, I fed him the same food, and suddenly he started getting scabs on his face. When he got neutered I noticed his ear was all gross, and after he was neutered I really noticed him scratching his face alot.

I told my vet I want to do an allergy test, he decided to do an elimination diet instead. So we put Napolean on IVD Duck and Pea. Things went well for a bit, boom, back to square one, itchy face, goopy ears, the works. So we have now put him on z/d. Well he was doing really well, my vet said we should do a skin biopsy. When I brought him in he said his skin looked great, which it did.

Well tonight he got into the left over bag of Science Diet Kitten food, this is probably not the first time he has gotten into it, and his skin is scabby and gross again.

If he has like ONE KIBBLE of anything other than z/d he gets itchy, really bad. I am at my wits end, I want him to be comfortable. And he doesn't like the z/d. He eats the canned well enough, but it makes his stools really soft [[I feed both wet and dry]].

Tomorrow I am going to request we test him for allergies. But I want to know about foods, I am looking into Innova and Blue, does anyone know of those brands? I'm thinking if he had something better, without the corn, or the wheat that he might do better. RAW diet is out of the question, I don't have that much money or time on my hands. But I think or am hoping he might do better on a food with better ingredients.

Thanks!

For a kitten that reacted to duck and pea you may need to stay with z/d... How long has he been on Z/D ?/

I would to the allergy tests see if maybe a lamb based food would work....

If the tests show negative for chn , look at Nutro natural choice and Cal natural s cat food

That is a shame he reacted to green pea - Natural Balance has a green pea and venison for cats with food allergy issues.
I do hope you get some answers if you go forward with the tests. My one cat with severe issues could only be managed on Z/D.

Another option, once you know what he is allergic to, would be a vet approved homecooked and properly supplemented diet, so you have total control over what he is eating.

I was thinking homemade as well. Well have to do the testing.

I would be fine with him being on z/d if he liked it, which at this point he "tolerates" it. He loves the canned, but it gives him loose stools [which I find most hill's/science diet products do]

He has been on z/d for 2 months. Things were going really well until he got into the kitten food. Things have been far from smooth since he scratches the crap out of his face, and then attacks his ears. I feel so bad for him. I am seriously going to laugh if his allergy values are higher than my co-workers dog [who has the higest results either of our vets have seen].

And thanks for the information
